pEast - the door is in and it's even better than we imagined. Photos won't do it justice. You'll have to swing by for a look!
We're now fully locked up, first fix completed and kitchen goes in on Thursday!!!
A few of the issues that we've come across have been because we changed the floor plan so significantly, and time didn't permit us being across every detail. You're probably not going to get that with another builder who builds every single version of the house exactly the same way. Isn't that the beauty of Arden though? We're able to change just about everything to get a home that works perfectly for us.
Now you have the time, it's great that you'll be able to be across all details and maximise light and solar efficiency too. Check those plans and specs and make sure that every single thing you can think of is in there
This may help... A couple of things we missed were internal door heights raised but not bulkheads in the entry. They're been fantastic though and will change the one right near the front door because it really did look ordinary. And still on door heights - we thought we'd increased all of them but missed the laundry door and also the wardrobes.
We should have spent more time reviewing our colour selections before contract. Unfortunately the roof tile that we thought we'd chosen was recorded differently on the paperwork, and not knowing the names of the different profiles, we didn't pick it up until they were on the roof. It was a huge shock to see wavy tiles when we thought we'd picked completely flat ones. At the end of the day though, we signed it and should have been more thorough on selection day. Wish I'd noticed that there was no microwave in the display. Completely missed this too, and by the time it dawned on me it was too late to modify cabinets to accommodate. We were able to add an extra powerpoint to the butlers pantry though, so we can alter it after handover.
Speaking of handover - we're on track for early February, which is brilliant so we can have some down time over Christmas and then start packing (again)!!!
