Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 2Dec 07, 2016 5:51 pm Build has started, Mimosa was really quick to attend the site. I have engaged Darbecca as independent inspectors and so far their response has been good. Pre-slab inspection was done 5/Dec with 7 defects. Report has been sent to Mimosa and been advised that corrections have been made and pictures will be shared shortly. Slab has been poured in 7/Dec. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 3Dec 20, 2016 4:01 pm pre-slab defect fixed by builder and pictures sent. Framing has been completed. My independent inspector identified multiple issues with frame and slab which were not advised/notified by builder, even though i have independent inspection included in quote with Mimosa. However, Mimosa has been good to look into identified issues and rectify so far. So that's a good sign. I am now going to get all stages inspected by Darbecca. Highly recommended to everyone to engage trust-able independent inspector during build to keep builder honest and ensure things are done properly as per required standard and not cheap job at expensive cost. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 4Jan 25, 2017 12:16 pm Hi jMasood, Good to go through your journey. I am also planning to build with Mimosa but recently I've read some negetive reviews regarding Brickwork issues. Have you faced any similar issues? Hope everything is going smoothly for you. Cheers, Sunil Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 5Jan 25, 2017 12:21 pm My brickwork has just started, will see what my independent inspector tell me in next inspection. It does not matter which builder you build, I would highly recommend to engage Darbecca or any other organisation you trust to do inspections. I had 2 inspections done, and multiple defects identified which Mimosa is now fixing. Things can go wrong in any project, but good thing is Mimosa is listening and rectifying all the issues. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 6Jan 30, 2017 1:15 pm Thanks for getting back. Sure, I am also planning to go with Darbecca for all stages. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 8Mar 08, 2017 9:54 am All, just need advise, In my colour selection I selected Vitesse colour for walls and mix of 1/4 Vitesse and 3/4 white for roof and doors etc all over the house. Now i am thinking if that will work or should i just go white with roof and doors etc. It will cost me around $2000 to change (subject to approval) but confuse if I should make that call or leave it as it it. Help......... Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 9May 04, 2017 12:53 pm Update: Painter has started working. Decided to go with original selected colours, hope it comes out well. Over all build quality has been great, Fixing & water proofing inspection by 3rd party inspector was ok with couple of minor issues identified like window balancing but that have been fixed already. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 10May 05, 2017 8:33 pm Pics would be highly appreciated Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89524 Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 13May 05, 2017 10:49 pm Melt23 I really like your kitchen colours! I'd not have thought to do dark bench and cabinets (As opposed to light/dark) but it looks awesome! Thanks. Our tiles are of skin tone, color is light too so we decided to go with dark bench and matching cabinet instead of introducing another color. Hopefully it will become more attractive once tiles and paint is done. Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 14May 08, 2017 10:13 am Hi Mate. If i can ask.. whereabouts are you building ? which plan have you selected and who was your sales rep? Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 15May 08, 2017 10:40 am yasir_fnd, I have PM'd you the details, it's in West Melbourne, Johanna240. https://www.mimosahomes.com.au/home/johanna-240-bed/ Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 18May 24, 2017 5:46 am Because there have been not many people build with mimosa. Last year, they seems to have a lot of project so you may see more feedback coming. But happy to share my experience. There are also some feedback available on productreview as well Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 19May 24, 2017 9:40 pm Thanks Mate. I have seen reviews on productreview and started getting worried as the recent reviews are terrible. The reviews prior to Jan this year were good. I would like to know how soon they started the work and are they delivering on time? Did you deal with upper pointcook sales person or a different one? Thanks, Mc Re: Journey with Mimosa Homes VIC 20May 24, 2017 10:42 pm I had delays and challanges when my file went to head office, but later that was fixes by management and consultant appointed. They were good to start site quickly in 1-2 months from contract signing and did slab and frame in 2 weeks (Dec for me) but then went really slow and i am expecting completion next month. The overall quality of build has been good but some things i have experienced as below makes me re-think to go with them if i build again: - poor communication: you don't get to talk to site supervisor but consultant in office so always delay. I prefer to talk to supervisor directly than someone else, in fact never met my supervisor till date - build speed: never notices work regularly happening on the lot. I been going around the area quite frequently each week but hardly see any one and suddenly in a day the task gets completed. Which mean, the task itself was less than a day job but it took weeks to get it done. May be they have more work and less man power that they are struggling On positive note, top management is customer focussed and listen to customers (if you get access to them), the basic price have a lot of inclusions which makes it good price not like others where in standard u have 2 options to choose so u have to upgrade. I dealt with amazing sales rep Bianca from allura office, she helps her customers a lot and i highly recommend her. They are moved to the grove estate office now so check if she is still around. Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval. The kit home companys wont release plans without a deposit and… 0 7177 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports… 2 4481 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 |
