They have no ******* idea how to do their jobs :/ Our poor supervisor has been working off the wrong plans for months, and they never bothered to check. OMG,.... we had a similar problem last year. You'd think they'd learn. At the Sup's request, I met the sparkies on site to clarify some rough in placements only to discover they were working off pre-contract plans. These were plans that should never have seen the light of day, yet still got sent to multiple trades. What's worse though, is that months later some trades were still working off the wrong plans. Don't feel sorry for your supervisor. If he was a competent project manager he would have checked the applicable amendment date of all plans. Apparently our supervisor and electrician had different sets of plans, both of which were wrong. Another problem was our island benchtop. It was installed six months ago, and it took them until now to realise that the sink cut out was incorrect (i.e. it wasn't for an undermount sink). Re: JG King Hartwell - Melbourne western suburbs 325Nov 23, 2016 5:33 am The worst thing for us is that we nearly walked away from JG King after the contract debacle (it took them 5 months to start preparing our contract, and then another 2 before we could sign it). We had thought to ourselves that if JG King couldn't get our contract prepared, how could they possibly build our home? We ended up sticking with JG King because we loved the house and the steel frame, but it hurts to stay that my instincts were right. JG King's management processes are terrible and they have greatly affected our build. I should have left and gone to Carlisle or Henley. Re: JG King Hartwell - Melbourne western suburbs 326Nov 23, 2016 6:04 am Can you ask to speak to someone higher at Kings? When we opted to leave Kings, the manager from head office called to discuss our problems. Obviously for us we had, had enough by this stage. So realisticly there was nothing he said or could do that would change our mind. However, he did genuinely seem concerned. He has only recently taken over at the Melbourne head office. The problems you are facing are pretty terrible, and to hear that the same problem has occured with someone else's build is concerning. Fingers crossed that these problems can be rectified quickly and you get into your new home as soon as possible. Re: JG King Hartwell - Melbourne western suburbs 327Nov 23, 2016 8:55 am Gee whiz, making sure he is working to the correct plans should be the first thing both admin and the ss do. Not helped when the ss keeps changing, I'm sure they just all assume the first one has the basics right. Something seems to have changed in the Geelong office recently. I know they have made an effort to increase the number of admin staff, maybe that has finally made a difference, maybe its new upper management? Not only are they asking questions instead of just doing then finding out later that they were wrong, we are actually getting replies to emails!! Emails that strictly don't need a reply but are nice to get so that you know they got yours and are acting on it. I hope this is a sign that things are improving. Until recently their communication was terrible. I hope they sort out your issues as timely as possible. Re: JG King Hartwell - Melbourne western suburbs 328Nov 23, 2016 9:21 am jaslee The worst thing for us is that we nearly walked away from JG King ...... So did we... So many little things kept raising flags that the company was dysfunctional yet we'd already spent so much time and money that we regretfully persisted. I was 50/50 about owner building, but don't have a specific trade background so decided it wasn't worth the risk. However, given their lack of any quality assurance, and poor logistics management, I wonder what I was paying them for... Re: JG King Hartwell - Melbourne western suburbs 329Nov 23, 2016 9:55 am What a mess up, I'd be going higher in management if you aren't getting the answer you need. It's funny the different experiences from different offices, although we are having an issue, there communication and actions have been positive to try and work to a good outcome. Sometime it feels slow but I think that is part of building unfortunately. If you have time would be great to see photos of your finished house. 😁 And keen to get some feedback on your Polyflor vinyl planks, have they been a practical option for you? Hello, we can help you please get in contact 0421019219 thank you 3 31866 Thanks for your reply! We're definitely not after a small house Might still have a chat to them. Who did you end up building with if you don't mind me asking? 2 2638 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105716 |
