Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Better Built Homes 26Nov 25, 2016 8:08 pm Hello, I'm also interested in feedback on building with Better Built Homes. My husband and I are building in Edmondson Park and have narrowed it down to Better Built and GJ Gardner. mansawant - your house is looking great; will you be posting any photos of the interior? It would be great to see the quality of finishes by BBH. Re: Better Built Homes 27Nov 25, 2016 9:01 pm Nice to meet you maryandbish. We are in the final stages of sigining our contract and getting formal council approval. From the beginning our dealings with Neel at the better built display home were nothing short of fantastic. He was excellent and patient from start to finish. We have had good communication at every stage from better built and have enjoyed the process thoroughly. We found their prices were reasonable and not overly inflated as we found with others. Their allowances are also generous which we were pleased with. The only thing we have not enjoyed was the tile appointment. They use colortile and they are poor in service and the range is limited. We ended up going with our own flooring but used them for the bathrooms and laundry. So far i can highly recommend better built. They have done everything they said they would when they said they would do it. Admittedly we are not yet at the build stage but this admin process has been a relatively smooth ride. All the best with your decision. These decisions are never easy. We found that out quickly! Re: Better Built Homes 29Nov 25, 2016 9:41 pm Just finished wet area tiling today and kitchen cabinetery work will start next week. There was delay from Color Tiles for wet area tiles which affected start of kitchen work but I am hoping Better Built Homes will still manage to finish it before Christmas as promised. Re: Better Built Homes 30Nov 26, 2016 12:04 pm Hi krusade25, Thanks for the response and feedback. We did meet with Neel when we visited the Oran Park display home and he was quite informed and helpful. I agree, the decision is not an easy one; we've been meeting with builders and visiting displays for months and only just recently narrowed it down to 2. We haven't decided whether we're happy with a project home (BBH) and make slight modifications to suit us, or go with a custom design (GJG). BBH no longer do custom, which is disappointing, because their workmanship, finishes and inclusions are amazing. Thanks for sharing. I can only imagine what it must have felt like to walk through the house! Just really exciting. Love the massive void area above your living room. Thats pretty spectacular. Very happy for you! Again hoping you get a ready house as a christmas present. Re: Better Built Homes 34Nov 30, 2016 12:43 am Hi mansawant, Finally its all taking shape, I hope its all ready before Christmas..............Good luck How much downlights they provided and for extra how much its costing per light as I was thinking of having through out house? Hi Krusade, I'm in initial stage to built with BBH still looking at plans one of my friend who is building with them advised that carpet and tiles inclusions are very limited or sub-standard. Lowest range for carpets............. Tiles also very limited choice...... or say almost no choice for 600x600 porcelain....... not even rectified (which can cost another 5K) Re: Better Built Homes 35Nov 30, 2016 5:30 am Hi zubair001. Yes you are right. The flooring is very limited which is why we decided to get flooring done elsewhere. Tiling is also limited however upgrade prices are still reasonable. Main reason it is limited is the company they have gone with colortile. Having said that we got rectified tiles put in our main ensuite (granted not porcelain) and it came out to about 1.5k extra floor to ceiling which was much less than i thought. Where they make up for it is the other inclusions like driveway and flyscreens. By the way can i ask what plan are you looking at? If you are ever around Neel at better built, ask him to see the "Kruse35" plan. Its the plan for our house. It was actually a Bailey 35 with some modifications. He might be able to further modify plans you are looking at to suit you more. All the best with it. I know it can be draining at times. I just keep thinking of where mansawant is at and i have hope! Re: Better Built Homes 36Dec 01, 2016 10:00 pm I have just emailed construction manager to confirm the PCI date and he was the one with whom I dealt with since beginning as he was looking after sales at that time. Will update you guys. Also though we agreed for frameless showers I noticed that downstairs shower screen is not frameless not sure about the upstair two showers. Mentioned this to costruction manager. Re: Better Built Homes 38Dec 07, 2016 12:53 pm Still waiting for update on PCI. Nothing heard from either site supervisor or construction manager who is one of the owners of the firm. Site work started in April 2016. I am not sure how long it will take for them to finish my house. Bigger the better for storage for me IMO. But I guess it's harder to tell the cost/benefit in your example - mainly the 'cost'? If you go 700mm, what are you doing extra… 2 9984 Canopy and Undermount are best, and need to be ducted externally. Which one you go with will be largely determined by your design and joinery choices. What you should be… 1 6757 |
