Cost To upgrade tiles into higher category (Cat 2, Cat 3, or Cat 4) 2. PD provide a normal 175Litre with 1 Panel Solar System. Will these be enough for a family of 5 ? 3. PD provide Class M slab. How much does it cost for Class H ? 4. Is it worth the upgrade into a zones ducted heating system from the default one provided by PD ? ($1100) 5. The alfreso is going to cost an arm and leg (around ~$7000). It's very important to have one, but not if it's costly. My question is, can 3rd party builder provide a similar extended alfreso to what PD do ? I'd love to have it to be part of the house frame. 6. How much does it cost for the driveway ? (it'll be 5 mitres by 5.5 mitres) 7. PD wants us to pay $2500 for the 'Fixed Price Guarantee" . My land will be settled in late May and PD will start building in July. Is this $2500 worth it ? 1. Tiles, cost will depend on the size of the area you want to upgrade. We actually found most tiles in cat 1 and only upgraded feature tiles. 2. We upgraded to 215L and 2 solar panels. We are a family of 5 almost adults. When I looked at the manufacturers website, the 175L was recommended for 2-3 bedrooms/people, so we decided to upgrade. 3. Depends on slab size and site itself. 4. We got one zone and a network controller. When/if the kids move out we don't need to heat the whole house. 5 We got an extended alfresco and it was 4K? We wanted it under roof line. Cost will depend on soil/size/house design. 6. No idea, we're still building 7. You can say "land will be settled in May", but in reality, this is a hope. Many people on this forum can testify that land that was supposed to be settled as gone on for months later. So, you need to take this into consideration to when deciding. Hope this helps. Is this $2500 worth it ? 4 - Yes! You may not want to be heating the entire house all the time, say bedrooms during the day or if the kids aren't around etc 5 - If you want it under the roofline do it through PD, but if you don't mind then maybe do it later. With them being under the roofline, it blocks out a LOT of natural light to the room that it is off. 6 - It depends on the materials you want it made from, 5x5.5 = 27.5 @$60 sqm = $1,650 7 - I don't think you have a choice. I had it explained that if you push the start date out past the end of June they charge you a fee and if the prices of the materials comes in under this amount, you get money back but if it goes over then you don't pay anymore than the $2,500 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Re: Questions About Additional Variations Provided by PD ! 8Feb 08, 2009 5:00 pm We are going in for a tender next week and have done most of our homework. To answer some of your questions.
1. Cost To upgrade tiles into higher category (Cat 2, Cat 3, or Cat 4) >> you can get this from your sales consultant. they usually have a pricing book with all the prices for all categories for all materials (bricks, roof, render, etc.). you can ask for a photocopy of the page you want and take it home. Our sales consultant at Point Cook (prestige) was very good and answered all our questions. 4. Is it worth the upgrade into a zones ducted heating system from the default one provided by PD ? ($1100) >> I agree with the post above, why heat the whole house when not all of the rooms or living areas will be occupied at the same time. 6. How much does it cost for the driveway ? (it'll be 5 mitres by 5.5 mitres) >> depends on the tradies I guess. Try using the search function for what some of the people in the forum paid to get their driveway done. You have to consider what type of surface (aggregate, pavers, etc.) which will greatly very in cost 7. PD wants us to pay $2500 for the 'Fixed Price Guarantee" . My land will be settled in late May and PD will start building in July. Is this $2500 worth it ? >> this is to lock in the prices so that you will not be affected by price increases. We took this option because we had our sales quote done last December. We took a look at the latest PD brochure and found that the base price for our home has increased by almost $3k. Our land titles in June so I believe this is good. Good luck with building your home!
