Seems better looking than pelmet but it is debatable as the brickie who worked at our place said that pelmets allowed proper sealing of the garage but if you get a good quality garage door. Either way, whether you go for an infill panel or bricks there, the garage door installer should be able to get a tight fit up against it. As long as there is enough height from the bottom of the beam to the underside of the garage ceiling and enough setback from the outer to inner bricks for the channel etc on the sides they should be able to do this easily.
