That being said, all the doors are now in, architraves and most skirting are attached. We got a call from our SS and he went through the progress of everything so far and mentioned that the kitchen cabinets were being installed. We were very excited to see the kitchen bench and cupboards in all their glory (minus the ceasarstone benchtops). The matching bathroom, ensuite and laundry cabinets were also installed. All very exciting.
They also gave the site a big cleanup outside and added some soil at the front of the house. This was perfect timing as we had to cut the grass at the rear of the property due to a general council fire hazard notice. The SS also mentioned that the plasters will be coming in to finish off and the painter will be starting in a week or so. Hopefully tiling will begin shortly after and the carpenters will have the eaves and the other outstanding items completed. At this stage it is looking like 6-8 weeks until handover. Can't wait!!! I like the door especially. I can't believe how long it took us to choose our front door, it was one of the toughest choices in the house!

Yes thanks we are very happy with the door. This particular facade doesn't have a side window in the entrance so we needed to bring in some light. We were torn between clear or frosted, but ended up going with frosted due to privacy concerns. I was a bit concerned that the frosting would stop too much light. It seems to be fine. Hi Enzo, Thanks things are moving along well, but never quite fast enough ( although I can't complain when I compare our build with many others on the site). You do get used to lots getting done in a week. This week next to nothing has been done. Overall it is still going well. Looking great guys. That front door really is beautiful. We're just at the stage of having Ludo002 drawings prepared, and once the time comes for it, we'd never have thought to give much consideration to front door choice with respect to the amount of light it lets in to the entrance. Thanks for letting us in on yet another little quirk worth considering during that stage of the process. If a brief calculation serves me correct, you'll come close to 22 weeks build time. Is that right?? Cheers, CCG Re: Building an Urbanedge Larne 002 - almost finished pics 47Feb 06, 2009 10:59 am fringe dwellers Yes thanks we are very happy with the door. In the end we went with a solid door, but we have clear highlight windows at the sides and the top. Someone right at the window could look in and see what we're up to, but someone passing on the street won't see a thing. Good luck with fixing stage! --Mike Everything I know, I learned from SBS. Yes the door is great, although it was quite pricey as it was not standard. We bit the bullet (yet again) and paid the additional amount. The price that Urbanedge quoted was not too much over the RRP. We made the door selection at our colour appointment. We are at about 17 weeks since the official site start, although they started the week before. Urbanedge stopped for about 3 weeks over Xmas and not much happened during the heatwave a week ago or so. Progress has been fairly swift so far. We probably would not have gone with the door if we had side windows. Great that you would have some privacy. I suspect ours would have been very visible from the street. Your house is looking great. It is very exciting to see the frame go up and you are able to see your house for the first time. Good luck with the build. Fringe Dwellers - Building Urbanedge Homes Larne 002 www.devohosting.com.au/fringedwellers Re: Building an Urbanedge Larne 002 - almost finished pics 50Feb 22, 2009 8:03 pm We've often heard that watching the externals of a house go up is the exciting part of the build, as there is something new to see each visit. That was definitely the case for us, it seemed to go up so quickly that we thought we'd be in in no time.
What we didn't realise is how slowly everything else seems to take by comparison! Since our last post, not much seems to have happened, which is so frustrating when you are waiting with bated breath to see this shell develop into your home. What makes it that much worse I think is that I work 15 mins away from the house 3 days a week, so drop by after work often to see how it's going, to see nothing much has changed since my last visit. So, since last post, fixing stage is complete - skirting etc is all finished, eaves are in, baths/showers have been waterproofed and all of the internal doors have been removed for painting (crazy, why bother putting them on in the first place, or is that just me?). The painter is due in this week and the tiler the week after that. We've been given a rough estimate of mid-late March for completion, but to be honest, we can't imagine that will happen, there still seems so much to do. Hopefully we'll be pleasantly surprised!! www.thebedbug.com.au Children's Licenced and Treehouse Manchester for all of those new rooms! We had hoped to have handover by mid-late March, but are still hoping to be in by Easter. Things have been moving along, tiles are in, paint is done, beautiful kitchen bench is in, baths are in, most of the electrical is done. It took much longer than expected, but we feel we have covered everything. Apart from a couple of oversights by the builder, we are happy with everything so far. Hopefully a solution for these will be found soon. The final inspection should be in just over a week, with settlement in two weeks. All that is left now for the our front window sill to be completed, carpet, another coat of render, the kitchen bench drainer mirrors installed, the front door needs sanding/painting and lots of touch-ups. Once handover has been completed, then the appliances will be installed and our fancy kitchen tap. The last couple of months have dragged, but we are very close now. We can't wait! Trying to organise quotes for the driveway, but nearly impossible to get concreters out to look at the house. The Facade is not yet complete, still needs another coat of render with the colour and the front sill completed. It should be finished next week. These are some pics from a week or so ago. Hopefully yours goes smoothly.. And that facade looks AWESOME!!! I love the facade - it will look great with all the colours and fully complete. I like the big timber window and the timber posts, and the big rendered pillar there. What colours are you having on the render? Built the Atlantique 37 Mk2 with Carlisle Homes - WE'RE IN!! There still seems to be so many small things to fix and they have really only got 4 days to do them. If ours is delayed 3 or 4 times, I think we would start to lose the plot. That being said, we do not want to have a handover inspection without everything finished. Was your delay due to them canceling or you being unhappy with the unresolved issues? If all the trades turned up on Tuesday, 95% could be knocked off in a day or so. The carpet guys are booked for Thursday, so the painters would have to be done by then. It is so frustrating that we are so close and there is next to no action on the house. They do retain the same trades, so I guess we have to wait until they are free. I am sure this is what you experienced also. Our facade will be mainly Dulux Limed White and the Pillar and front window sill (yet to be completed) will be dune to match the garage door. Yes we are very happy with the facade. Most of the UE facades left me a bit cold or I felt they may date a bit over time. It is a personal preference, but I always thought this one was quite understated and unique. Yes we love the timber posts also. I was concerned that when it went up it may look cheap. But they look even better close up. Really nice red gum. They will also go really well with the cedar windows, our door and the entry deck and steps we will be putting in after handover. Our only concern at the moment for the facade is the down pipe at the front. It was originally supposed to go alongside the pillar and is easily hidden with a coat of matching paint. Unfortunately, due to us changing the plan (removed the main bedroom alfresco and replace in with WIR) we only have two windows at the front for ventilation into the room. If the down pipes are to go in the original spot, we will not be able to open the front windows. So it needs to go to left corner of the front windows and will partially obscure, the beautiful cedar timber at the corner of the window. We were a little surprised that this was not mentioned before hand and only discovered by our SS on the day the down pipes were being installed. At least the base of the pipe will be concealed in the sill. Hopefully some creative paintwork of the pipe may help conceal it a bit or perhaps a skinny tall tree? How is your house going? I have not been able to locate any photos and would love to see how it finished up. I have always loved the look and layouts of the Carlisle Homes. If we had known about them earlier, I am sure we would have considered them. www.thebedbug.com.au Children's Licenced and Treehouse Manchester for all of those new rooms! I would have chosen the same facade if this is available to Ludo. So how is it going now, is the handover coming any time soon? I thought they worked quite fast actually, well at least at the current stage of our build. Ours has only been 5 weeks and the frames are up although may not be totally done.
