It weighs almost 300kg so the cabinet maker has organised 7 men to help lift it in place. I'm also going to have 3 extra on site so that I can ensure that the process is safe and without incident. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 345Sep 06, 2016 1:01 am I just came across a picture of what my "coffee corner" looked like a year ago. Working with a existing house has certainly been challenging and I'm not sure if ever want to do it again but looking at the change makes it all worthwhile. Two of our wall in the original dining and master are in pretty bad shape and I suspect I'll continue to see cracks if I just patch up so I'm dry lining the ******* walls. Before I do, I'm removing the old plaster. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our kitchen had some progress today. I love the veneer. The cabinet supplier has provided 6 men to move it and place it safely on the island. I didn't think that was enough so I've added another 3 men. Wish me luck..... OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 352Sep 08, 2016 9:01 pm Had some great progress with the cabinets today. Our island bench top installation went very smoothly with 10 men helping out. I'm thrilled with the result and I'm definitely changing my mind about European kitchens.

My "odd" square window no longer looks odd. I'm so happy with it. The oak rough sawn oak veneer is my favorite. Also I couldn't find a local supplier of a single piece of bench top of 5.5m (other than acrylic) We met with 4 European kitchen importers and decided with the one that could supply our benchtop. What I found with all European kitchen suppliers is that they all understand design and aesthetics really well. What they all lack though is building experience and at times I've been left to solve their problems. Price wise I think they are equivalent to locally sourced cabinets but I like their choice of finishes much more. Downside is the 3-4 months wait and the risk if the cabinets don't fit.
