Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 958Sep 02, 2016 5:33 pm jewel47 Hello All, We just went through our colour selection and I wondering if anyone had suggestions on things to look out for before contract. You know the little things that you forget. For instance, our sales consultant forgot to give us an electrical plan! We tried to review the plan and add in lights in areas where the standard lighting wouldn't be enough. But what about powerpoints? I read someone talking about meters before. Should I be looking at the meter box? You don't know what you don't know. And we don't know what we may have overlooked. So anything that you later had to add or change? Thanks! Jewel Hi Jewel, just a quick couple of tips with your electrical, if your building a 2 story home it is important to add in lighting or power points while the house is under construction to the bottom level in areas that are not accessable, in most cases electricians will require roof access to wire in additional points later, generally in a 2 story home access to top level roofspace is made via a manhole where additional powerpoints/lighting can be installed. To save on builders variations Powerpoints placed in strategic locations can be easily added back to back later by your electrician Re: Things you forget - summary page 32 959Sep 02, 2016 10:53 pm Adam_C Here's more of a "things you didn't know that you didn't know" rather than "things you forget" - If your estate is getting FTTH NBN (and most are) then consider up front where you want the NBN box to be. I assumed that I could have the NBN installer put it wherever I wanted, but it turns out the location had already been predetermined by where the builders ran the conduit. They assumed it was going on the inside wall of the garage where most go. I didn't want it there but didn't know to specify that way back before the build started. Quite a noob, but where would you have had it given a choice? We're thinking of specifying this at our tender appointment.
