Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4961Aug 10, 2016 9:32 pm Had my PCI yesterday and absolutely thrilled with my house, my SS has done a fabulous job pulling it all together.. Few fairly minor issues - some patching and repainting in some rooms - a little bit of regrouting in the main bathroom - plumber is coming back to finish setting the bath mixer plate (wrong one delivered so wasn't installed) and will reset the one in the ensuite sink as it's slightly crooked plus he needs to replace an outside tap that was nicked lol - minor crack in some render where it's dried in the join of the blueboard above the garage - remove the front screen door that wasn't supposed the be installed and fix the door frame/restrain door frame handover should be Tuesday at this stage, the door frame may be slightly after move in, once I have handover I'll have a building inspector go right through the house and provide the report to coral to rectify any issues.. Finally near the end! Thank god for my amazing SS! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4962Aug 11, 2016 6:13 am Whooo hoo ash that's fantastic news!! My partner is kicking himself we gave them the cheque but we freaked a little and just handed it over. There is so much in the house that hasn't been fixed and the cracks have come back in the ceiling which means the plasterer needs to come back and fix the whole living/kitchen area roof. Its also cracked above a few door frames (4th time these cracks have happened to roof and doors). We have no kitchen sink as it is bent so that needs to be replaced (hoping someone can fix it by Friday), no paint in a few areas and no doors on the cupboards! After the SS walked out we stood there in complete shock wondering how they can leave it like this. I rang head office before we met at the house to say if it wasn't finished we didn't want to pay but the lady said our payment was due and we didn't have a choice. Our SS knew how upset we were but didn't say anything at all. Even when we asked why things hadn't been done he had no answer. As soon as he left I called to say we didn't want the keys and he said its too late then blocked my calls. I really hope everything is fixed so we can move into the house and start to make some happy memories. Coral should be ashamed with how we have been left feeling about our brand new house that we waited so long for. Oh no really? After everything this is how they end it.. My heart breaks for you Stuff him.. Have you called the area manager? Take photos and send to him and mention the fact that he basically said too bad and is ignoring your calls. I cant remember if your in Newcastle or not but if you fall under the same area manager as me G.W - He certainly would not be impressed. Nobody has called me back or replied to my emails. SS has still blocked our numbers. We are in Newcastle but no that's not our SS. Our SS is actually the state manager, they didn't assign us a SS as our build was so close to finishing. I wish they did though as he did a poor job for someone so important, I'd say its because he was so busy travelling all the time. Our floor started yesterday and looks great so it has made me feel much better and the painters are there fixing up the parts they haven't done. Once the kitchen sink has been fixed I think we will be a little relieved. Just the huge cracks to worry about then. Im so sorry you feel this way, Hopefully the issues can be rectified ASAP and you can begin to love your new house. xx Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4964Aug 11, 2016 1:42 pm I am a little disappointed with the finish so far with the portico we paid a lot for. This side of cement sheeting is flush with bricks. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This side steps in.. And it's the main side you see. So they've done extra wood around the edges and white silicone around the gutter.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I also assumed it would sit flush and not look like stuff was just stuck everywhere to "finish" it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I want to bring it up with our SS well before pci so it gets fixed fast. Have noticed lots of small things but this one I'm hoping to resolve early. http://www.forum.homeone.com.au/viewtop ... 31&t=82452 Cheers, Tegan (& Josh) Marcoola 30 with CORAL HOMES 2016 SANDSTONE LAKES, NINGI Queensland Our Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82452 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4965Aug 11, 2016 5:56 pm Lexie85 Hi all!! Long time no chat!! So couldn't help but notice all the talk about the garage step and laundry wastes!! We were really concerned regarding the garage especially when our driveway slopes slightly down! So we have put an extra wide drain in our driveway and also sloped the driveway where it joins the slab to compensate and so far we are all good! As for the laundry, we had added a floor waste anyway but it was also a council requirement for us so check your local council. I still can't speak highly enough of Coral Homes! I know there are still ongoing issues with people but we absolutely love our home and couldn't be happier with the end product!! Our Coral Homes Journey - Manhattan 25 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80520&start=0 Well done on picking up the lack of laundry floor waste included. Wish we did! Good to hear that your build went so well. Are you in Qld? It seems most of the problems come from the NSW builds. I have only mentioned a very small percentage of the problems we've had during our build because I physically don't have the time to document them all at the moment! We are just hoping against hope that once we're in there are no major problems with the house and we can move on and erase the experience from our memory. I hope we're as happy with the end product as you are. Our thread: viewtopic.php?t=82814 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4966Aug 12, 2016 8:39 am Hey guys just wondering what has to be done for PCi to happen??? Coral have estimated mine as next Friday but seems unrealistic. Does driveway need to be done as well? Tara viewtopic.php?t=82565 Coral Homes general build thread 4967Aug 12, 2016 8:47 am Hey tara, are you close to getting fittings done, they should be done already I guess if driveway is happening next week for friday pci. Was it you saying we needed shower screens etc done?? Was it you saying we needed shower screens etc done?? Tara viewtopic.php?t=82565 Thinking about the driveway, this wont get done until pretty much last minute like when handover is imminent. When i was talking to my ss about allowing my concretor onsite before handover he said due to liability this wasnt allowed (fair enough) and that Coral dont even get the driveway done till last minute for this reason. Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4970Aug 12, 2016 10:15 am Hmm ok well would be nice if SS gave me a date so I can organise work etc also do you know if hubby and I will need to be present for both PCI and handover?? Tara viewtopic.php?t=82565 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4971Aug 12, 2016 10:34 am I think you'll both have to be present for Handover because you both have to sign. (if you both signed the contract) Not sure about PCI but iy would be better for both if it's possible, partly to support each other. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4972Aug 12, 2016 10:38 am If you aren't present for PCI things may slip through that you aren't happy with. The time between PCI and handover is used to fix things not finished or not up to standard, preferably yours. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4973Aug 12, 2016 12:03 pm A completely random question, but if you get your driveway done through Coral do you get to choose the colour or is it a set colour? Going to the colour showroom tomorrow so we can get an idea of what we like prior to our appointment but if the driveway is a set colour we will want something that matches. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4974Aug 12, 2016 12:16 pm I dont categorically know but i would assume you get to choose from boral's standard range. Anything outside that range and you would need to increase that in your tender or it will be a variation to your contract. Are you getting exposed agg or just concrete? Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 4975Aug 12, 2016 12:22 pm Hi there, just a quick question for those who have owner supplied downlights while building with Coral - what did you buy, and also, were they compatible with the dimmer switches that Clipsal supplied? Thank you!! Coral are doing our driveway but didn't even mention exposed aggregate Do you know if its much more expensive? _________________________ Building the Noosa 26 with Coral Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80794 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14099 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
