Hi haji,
Fantastic kitchen, what stone did you end up using? Can't tell from the pics is that 60mm edge?

Fast forwarded + photo heavy 324Aug 02, 2016 11:41 am JB1 Question, with your timber post, how are they fixed to the concrete slab? I plan on using timber post, 200x200mm in lieu of steel post structural (if acceptable to the engineer). Hey JB, I used a panel that I had cut to 300mm x 300mm which is the size of our post. Then I drilled 4 holes through that panel and into the concrete where I was going to sit the post. I then placed the drilled template at the bottom of the post while it was on the floor, triple checking that I had the sides facing the correct direction and drilled into the bottom of the post. I then inserted 4 reinforcing bars (around 20cm long, half into post, half to go into slab) using Chemset (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ramset-380m ... s_p2260403). Note that Chemset almost dries instantly. Then about 6 of us carried the post to its location and lifted it up from the top end and placed it into the pre-drilled holes. The guy we got the timber from said we didn't need any reinforcing bars as it is around 300kg, i.e we could have just placed it upright without anything supporting it from the bottom. Once the top lintels are fixed to it as well it's not really going to go anywhere but I just felt safer doing it this way. Hope that helps. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 325Aug 02, 2016 1:53 pm Thanks Haji, That sounds like a good idea. With a 200x200mm post I'm sure I could get away with 3 bars in a triangle shape, or use a T Blade stirrup. Was the building surveyor happy with your solution or was that on the engineering plan? Also did you glue/epoxy the posts to the bars. As I'm building a double storey house, there will be some steal posts, I'll swap them with timber as a feature (where allowable). OB in Hume area - VIC. We ran timber lintels on top of where the stacker doors are, this should explain it Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I chiselled out a part of the post up the top on both sides so the timber lintel could sit into that section to give it the support it needed. I think the chippy used metal braces and also frame nails. This wasn't reflected in the engineer's report nor did the surveyor comment on it. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. I know it's been over 7 months since moving in so photos have stopped but I have attached a couple of shots of the outside pool area on page 16. I hope to upload some more soon including bathrooms, bedrooms and hallway. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. He is a young local guy who used to work out of his garage but opened up a factory now. I wanted someone that had an eye for detail and someone who I could talk to 1 on 1 and tell him all the little details. He took the time to come to my place and sit in front of the computer as we drew it out together. He did the installation as well so I was quite pleased with him. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Custom owner build in Hume - VIC - Tiling Stage http://goo.gl/qpPglB Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Thank you Re: OB in Hume area - VIC. Fast forwarded + photo heavy 339Jul 07, 2017 9:13 am cat_dunc Please post/update here when you post more pictures to page 16 (so it comes up on my feed). Looking forward to seeing more! Sorry for the delay guys, I know it's been more than a year since we moved in but some projects still haven't been completed but getting there. Hoping to have some more photos soon. Oninon Really great looking house and interiors. For timber cladding, who is tradie that can do this. Are there separate people who do these or just the carpenter? Thanks. Thanks. Our lockup and fixer did the front part of the house and I did the back pool area. Not much skill involved so if you have the time save yourself some money, borrow a drop saw and a nail gun and enjoy the process. tradeup Gorgeous home Haji, absolutely love every design you have made Can I ask please where you bought the Union Hotel clock from and how large it is (if you know)?
