As we need a date to get this done because the local government school will not accept our kids registration till we are in the actual house! Even though I provided proof we owned the land and were building, they wanted a letter from the builder to show we were going to move into the property by a certain date. On speaking to the builder, we are expected to be in the house within four weeks, which made the wife happy (Thankfully) and the date will suit us for other domestic reasons. The flooring people have been advised, and will be prepared to go in within the next two weeks. The painter has been busy and prepped the first coat of sealer for the walls throughout the house. Wife decided on the colour of half strength Apparition throughout, save the bathrooms and walk through robe which will be white. The builder has come up with a couple of last hurdles, being the basin for the powder room next to our room, and also the crossover which again is subject to the regulations of Stirling Council having to use their "Approved contractors" to do the job and also possibly wanting us to move a Telstra pit... Which would cost a bomb and I for one, don't want that as the house plans have been approved with the crossover/driveway also approved months ago. The house is coming along and I am happy with the progress. Looking forward to the new address and benefits that come from living close to the city. Rounding that up to 4 for good measure. Hoping that handing in our notice on the rental and telling the school that the kids are moving doesn't come back to bite me . It feels like it will be very grey and white but I am hoping the floors will provide the "warmth". Re: Four weeks to go | Custom framed home WA 113Jul 18, 2016 11:13 am Your home looks gorgeous! I love weatherboard exteriors Thanks I've been following your blog and I am now wondering whether we should complete our own PCI. It will leave me extra money for extra lovelies for the house Re: Four weeks to go | Custom framed home WA 115Jul 20, 2016 9:53 pm So after spending time deciding what colour pavers we wanted for the drive last night, we settled on the charcoal vista 60. However, the builder was messaged grey... because charcoal is grey.... Oh well, lighter pavers it is then Re: Four weeks to go | Custom framed home WA 116Jul 21, 2016 10:47 pm Painting and fittings 😁? I'm not loving the basins in the powder room. The cabinetry is really small and space is tight. With no real preference for style, we told the builder that whatever fit would be ok. Turns out that I am fickle. Completely our issue to fix. Just hoping the stone underneath hasn't been damaged / too cut up during the install. I hadn't thought about that bit. Checked out the sinks on Saturday night and they will have to stay for the time being ? The whole top of the bench was cut out to get them on. It may be a full cabinet replacement / new stone work to get a new sink on. At this stage of the game it's not something I want to contemplate. I did have a friend suggest that sinking them into the sink may help with how it looks - that may be something to explore when we are in. Also hoping that when the toilet and mirror are in that it won't look quite as bad too. Re: Paint, power and fittings| Custom framed home WA 120Jul 28, 2016 9:49 am Flooring installation is booked . Bamboo Wed to Fri next week, carpets on the following Monday. I've got an exciting weekend of painting skirting ahead of me!
