Has anyone looked into the differences (eg quality, price) between laminex, 2-pac or baked finishes for kitchen cabinets ? 2. Whether it is possible to get M in Sydney to source and install a different brand of appliances (e.g Miele) instead of their standard inclusions (e.g Smeg or F&P)? Many thanks Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW viewtopic.php?t=82846 Re: Kitchen cabinetry - we went with 2 pac, obviously for quality reasons but also because I wanted a Hampton look kitchen with profiling on the cabinetry and 2 pac was the best way to achieve this. Well worth the upgrade and not as pricey as I thought it would be. Many thanks Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW viewtopic.php?t=82846 Before we went in to Studio M we'd looked around at all the suppliers and looped back to M on our options. We went with the view of trying to get as much done by M so there's less hassle (warranty issues - "sorry you've changed that do not our fault" cracks, damage) and stuff to do post handover. We found out that M can source almost any Smeg appliance you want. We went to Winnings in north Sydney, picked their very informed brains and then told M which specific SMeg make and model we wanted. Not sure if this would work for other brands but we're happy with Smeg. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78995 Build thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78995 Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 56Jul 16, 2016 10:48 pm Thanks NRG37+, we went to Winnings earlier and the staff there were very helpful. There is a good selection of appliances there. We quite like the Smeg rangehoods as they are more powerful than the other brands, eg Miele. Given the hassle of ducting and has connections, we are thinking it's probably best to get at least the rangehood, and maybe also the gas cooktop, through M. Although that means we're pretty much limited to Smeg, F&P and Bertozzoni Does anyone know how M does handover if you want to do your own rangehood after handover, particularly around ducting? There is so much to think about and to have to sign off on tiling and electrical on the day was really hard. Hopefully, M will be reasonable about subsequent changes. We went into the internals thinking around $50k would do it. Here's how we went after Day 1: (Tiling) We chose the Majestic Ivory Polished tiles for the main flooring areas, including the wet areas. For the walls to the wet areas, we chose the Stratos Light Grey Polished. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The Majestic Ivory was around $40/m2 and the Stratos Light Grey was around $60/m2. (This price is after the carpet and tile package we purchased from M and labour is extra.) We chose the Cafe Ash tiles for the laundry splashback and the Portofino Plateau tiles for externals. These were standard tiles at no additional cost. Damage was about $10k Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW viewtopic.php?t=82846 Build thread: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde, NSW Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 58Jul 17, 2016 4:00 pm Next was carpet - the carpet will cover all upstairs except wet areas, the stairs, the sitting room and guest bedroom downstairs. We are still thinking whether to go with the darker grey Syrena Leyland or the lighter brown Syrena Healey. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ At the moment, we are leaning towards the Leyland but we'll see after we lock in our interior colours next week. Damage was $8,600 (this is taking into account the tile and carpet package we pre- purchased). It was so hard to weigh up spending the money now to future-proof the house vs paying later and retrofit. In summary, we had: - 4 aircon zones but can only operate 2 at a time as we only have a single phase - 4 external decorative lights - 3 tv points - 60 power points - 5 data points - 75 led down lights - 9 mini led down lights (eg under niches and kitchen cabinetry) The damage was $16k (this was after deducting around $6k in provisional sums we had put into the contract). One thing which was quite useful to know is that if you have a Daikin, you can install a Sky-fi module which allows you to control your aircon using your internet so you don't have to install multiple control panels around the house. Having reviewed out electricals list, I'm already thinking we might need more cabling for cctv, more telephone and data points Going into Day 2 (internals and kitchen) we have about $15k left which probably won't be enough Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW viewtopic.php?t=82846 Build thread: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde, NSW Re: Metricon Liberty 45 in Ryde NSW 60Jul 17, 2016 4:35 pm Quirmeball1280 Hi all, so we attended Day 1 of our internals appointment with M earlier in the week and it has been a good overall experience so far.
