The property in question is built on pad footings varying from 200 - 900mm from the natural ground level. The local climate can differ from -7 to +45 degrees Celsius, so an effective solution would be desired. Any enlightened perspective would be greatly appreciated. Re: Timber Flooring 2Jul 09, 2016 7:08 pm Polystyrene sheets cut to size and pushed up and secured in place between the floor joists would be the most effective. There are other materials like a reinforced sarking type that is stapled to the underside of the joists but I think it wouldn't have as high an R-rating as the poly sheets. Stewie Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 16378 1000000% definitely add insulation.
