Browse Forums Building A New House Re: HGWA Floor Tiling 5Jun 27, 2016 3:37 pm Hi Mrsxtro01 We are just getting to the final few weeks of our build and have been very pleased with it so far. I just looked up our variation sheet and we got $4851 back for floor tiles. We chose vinyl planks from Carpet Call after I'd seen them at a friends house. Homegroup do do 600 tiles but I guess they will charge you heaps as they are non standard. Perhaps better to take there's out and do it yourself. Re: HGWA Floor Tiling 6Jul 14, 2016 2:23 pm I hear you all about the replies from Homegroup so frustrating, why can't they just give a price allowance per sqm for the main floor tiling like they do with the wet area tiling so then we can at least work out prior to prestart if it is going to fit into our budget or not. We actually had our tile and laminate meeting just the other day and we settled on the dark brown 450 x 450 tile for the main floor tile and then she brought out the grout choices a whole of 4 and not one of them matches or even tones with that tile so we decided to leave it and are going to tile after handover (even though we don't know until prestart what we are getting back). The same happened with the bathroom floor tiles as well, we liked the mocha but the grout that matches that tile, the one they have in their display in the office they have stopped using now, so with the mocha tile we could of chosen a white grout or a cream grout, ended up going to Crosby's instead (Damien at Crosby's is amazing, very helpful). Mrsxtro01 one thing I did find out though at the tile and laminate meeting was that the $150 admin fee is only charged if you choose the wet area tiles from Crosby or European Ceramics, if you choose the wet area tiles from Homegroup and the main floor tiles from Crosby or European Ceramics apparently they don't charge the $150 admin fee, that's what the girl who did our tile and laminate meeting told us. Mrsxtro01 in regards to the 600 x 600 the girl that did the tile and laminate meeting told us to avoid using them if we can, even the DellaVita ones as we would be looking at thousands of dollars more to use them, are original consultant told us the same thing. Robina with the $4851 you got back do you know how many sqm's that was for? Our prestart meeting is tomorrow so if I find out anything useful I will let you know or if there is anything you want me to ask for you I'm happy to. But it was for living room dining room kitchen scullery and passage to kids bedrooms and front hallway and passage to living room. the Southport has two passage ways. So quite a lot of square metres.
