That's awesome - thanks for letting me know! Good to hear the brickwork is started Sally. Ours started bit late too and the weather didn't help either with the storm. Last week they seems to have gone full speed and worked over the weekend to complete most if it. This is the exciting stage of all where months of planning starting to take shape. Enjoy !! I quite like the flooring you have chosen. Do you think they will be kid proof? And do you know if they scratch easy?? Re: DAH Build in Landsdale WA - SLABBED 68Jun 08, 2016 12:33 pm rjrj - Yes the weather has been a bit annoying but the rest of the week looks like only a small chance of rain so hopefully much progress is made. jpmontoya - Himself went past the block last night and took some photos for me. I can't wait to go down on Saturday and have a wander. Woolyfish - We chose the best quality vinyl planking we could afford as we made our selections when we had both a dog and cat (sadly, we now only have a cat.) We wanted wood flooring but were worried about it scratching (and the dog going sliding if he ran through the house) and were told this product was actually better than wood because it was much more scratch resistant and not as slippery. So I would say that if you want something kid-proof then a really great quality vinyl is the way to go - and definitely choose a plank system, so if one plank does get damaged then that single plank can be ripped up and a new one put down. We actually have vinyl planking in our current home (just the cheap Bunnings stuff) and it's held up so well, we've been really impressed with it. The brand we have chosen for the new place is Karndean and they have a huge range with plenty of colours - definitely worth checking out and having a chat with Trevor's Carpets (and I think Solomon's sell the range as well.) We estimate that around 80% of our external brickwork is complete and it appears the internal blockwork was started yesterday. So far we're really thrilled with the quality of the brickwork. We're about to embark on the building process and I'm considering using the same bricks as yours. They look fabulous! Can't wait to see further progress pics Re: Dale Alcock Build in Cormbia, Landsdale WA 79Jun 14, 2016 9:01 am SallyS Picture time! Last weekend, we arrived at the block to see that our drop footings (we have a slight slope - the back of the block is a little higher than the front) were in and the pre-lay complete! It looks both huge and tiny at the same time (something I didn't actually think was possible.) We've checked the slab measurements and it's millimetre perfect. Needless to say, we're pretty chuffed. It might well be millimetre perfect, but it appears they may have missed some re-entrant bars in the internal corners..please check any other photos if you have any? Re-entant bars limit cracking which won't bother you should you choose to carpet..though future cracked tiling is my main concern...Thanks for the photos I always recommend taking several photos and have them checked before the concrete is poured. They are hoping to reach plate height by the end of this week which is great news! We went back later that evening to take some photos of the progress.
