Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simon Homes 2May 25, 2016 8:20 pm That's interesting isn't it? Their display homes are all under construction too. Why don't you ask them that you'd like to see a house they've built and question the 30 years. There could be a good reason for it. The owner of the business might have been a builder for 30 years but worked for someone else ??? Being a smaller builder can be a good thing. Re: Simon Homes 3May 25, 2016 9:28 pm Thank you TomCat for the reply, It is really interesting indeed, they do not have a section 'about us' too on their website. Quick search showing that their ABN has been only registered for 10 years (since 2006). They do have one display home in Officer VIC. I have visited the display. The home quality is good but still I feel it would be better if I can hear from anyone that has built with them before. Simon Homes 4May 26, 2016 12:50 am We bought our first home in 2002 & it was built by Simons. I'm not sure if it is the same builder you're talking about but would make sense if it was because we bought in Pakenham. They were building lots of houses in new estates at the time & selling them 'off the plan' or as new. We bought ours 'off the plan' (meaning they had started to build the home & we came in just as the frame was being put up so we were able to choose colours but not able to change anything structurally as it had already been approved by council). We loved our home but we sold it two years later so I can't really comment on how good a build it was because we weren't there long enough. They were good with their maintenance check after 3 months. Re: Simon Homes 5May 29, 2016 5:30 pm We are in the same boat, after looking at Simon Homes we feel the inclusions and flexibility is almost too good to be true? I would love to know if anyone has built with them and how it all went? Apparently most of their work is commercial they just do the custom homes as an extra. Re: Simon Homes 7Apr 19, 2017 11:09 am Get your contracts checked by a professional. Owner is unprofessional and a bully, and be careful with the so called "flexibility" - I got stung. Workmanship is poor, plenty of defects. IMHO, several things are done by unqualified tradesmen Constant delays in construction. They try to avoid coming back to repair or complete things. Re: Simon Homes 9Jun 13, 2019 10:42 am ndleng Hi All, does anyone know if the racking noise one the stair and floorings are normal, which the townhouse is built by Simons No not normal. Its a defect so get them to come out and rectify. See below screenshot from the Australian Guides and Tolerances for Australian standards.
