We are experiencing what are very high electricity bills for us.
We are a two person household and our usage is higher than our suburbs average for a 4 person family.
Our build is new. We have full LED lighting fit out. Our Aircon is ducted reverse cycle but zoned. We have good insulation and don’t use it that much.
Our sparky has installed a device in our metre box with a panel inside that measures our usage.
Even with most of our power points and appliances off, our usage seems to sit about 0.4 – 0.5kWh and fluctuates even though we aren't changing anything. At time, it even climbs when we watch it and don’t turn any other power devices on.
Can builders hook up neighbours houses to an existing connection fairly easily? Its odd as it climbs around dinner time, but we had takeaway and pretty much sat in the dark as an experiment…
We’ve signed up for a free energy audit from our local council but its still puzzling us…
I’m going to call Western power and see if they will confirm which house is connected to which power dome as I don’t want to poke around that unqualified!
Any other ideas?
thanks.
