If you are building a house, you will have working drawings, elevations, etc. External plumbing is not the norm now, most estates and councils no longer allow it. I can say with almost 100% certainty that display homes have plumbing done exactly as yours is. Unless the pipe has been put in entirely the wrong place, which is impossible to know without seeing drawings, there is no issue.
