Things are progressing along well. We are waiting for land to be titled in August!
How is your beautiful home? Since we will be living in a Jasper too, I'd love to hear what you think! That's annoying about the heating though...

Definitely hot air going into bedrooms. Very warm. You definitely need to get yours checked out. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3729Apr 25, 2016 12:04 am bugnada We are happy with the home - it definitely is cosy though! Our biggest regret is not adding a cavity or hinged door to the entrance of the second hallway. We have also found that there isn't room for stools at the island bench. Overall a great first home for our growing family. My husband is building a raised breakfast bar above the island so we can have stools there, as well as an extra space to serve food on. The island is definitely too small and too low for stools. We also have the same wish with the entrance to the second hallway, we are considering putting in some folding doors. Helps that hubby is a cabinet maker who works for a kitchen company. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3730Apr 25, 2016 12:42 pm Hi all, I've been stalking this forum for a while now and thought it was time to introduce myself! I'm building the Circa 21 in Parks Edge estate, Cranbourne. We were handed to construction last week and our site works have just begun so it's very exciting. I'm loving reading about everyone's builds on here. Quick question, in terms of private building inspections, what would be the most important stages? Our slab is due to be poured in a couple weeks so we need to get on top of it very soon. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3731Apr 25, 2016 1:18 pm I'd say first and last is most important. Darbecca werr fabulous Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3732Apr 25, 2016 1:30 pm We've engaged Darbecca for each stage. We were recommended minimum four stages but it's all up to your budget. We are still waiting for our land to title. There was a delay due to the development next to ours. Hopefully it should be in the next couple of weeks. Our slab is due to be poured in a couple weeks so we need to get on top of it very soon. We got frame stage, which includes a slab inspection; pre-plaster stage and final stage. We also hired Darbecca and the inspector they use out Cranbourne way is fantastic. He is meticulous in his attention to detail. Our biggest regret is not adding a cavity or hinged door to the entrance of the second hallway. We have also found that there isn't room for stools at the island bench. Overall a great first home for our growing family. That sounds perfect. All we ever wanted was a cosy place to call home. We currently rent a big 5 bedroom house and I'm so over the cleaning. The downsize will be amazing (for me!) My only worry is the fact that I work from home and I'll literally have a corner to call an office! The pay off will be a manageable mortgage and our own home which is fine by me. We currently have a 8 seater dining table which my husband is reluctant to say goodbye to. So that will probably have to go and we do need to buy a new couch as the one we have is a big corner suite (I think it would cover half the back door as it faces the wrong way). We are waiting to see the room before judging if it will have to go. Upon your advice, we had a cavity slider added to the hallway of bedrooms 2 and 3. Hopefully you'll be able to do something similar down the track? How do you find the bathrooms? Does the main bathroom have enough light with no window? The pantry looks a good size too! I bet the walk in linen is great too. I could go on and on.. I'm just so excited for you! Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3736Apr 29, 2016 6:25 pm Went past the house yesterday and was pleasant surprised to see cabinets have been installed http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q125/noodle_stylez/thumbnail_IMG_0961.jpg Not happy though because they mixed up our laminate colors. The microwave tower etc was supposed to also be 'stipple smoke' laminex however HBC had installed 'parchment'. Needless to say I sent a prompt email to our client liason officer advising her of the mistake. HBC emailed back there is nothing they can do as the microwave tower was as per the color scheme signed by my partner and I and attached a copy of our signed color scheme. The issue is what she attached is different than the color scheme we signed and different to the copy I have - The difference is HBCs copy have the microwave tower color as parchment where as my copy does not list microwave tower anywhere. My argument with HBC is that back when we did our color choices we clarified with our pre start consultant that the microwave tower would be stipple smoke. Im still waiting on a response from HBC but where do we stand.Surely it must be against some kind of law if HBC are adding items that neither my partner or I have signed off on. What would you do? Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3737Apr 29, 2016 6:34 pm Hi Jane610, don't say goodbye to your 8 seated dining table! We have a 2.1 dining table and 8 x chairs and it fits well due to the width of the area in the Jasper. Very pleased to hear that you added the cavity door - did you do the same for the walk in pantry? The main bathroom has lots of natural light (the one with no window). It is actually has better natural light than the master with the small window. The walk in pantry and linen closet are wonderful. Our previous home had minimal storage, so these closets are brilliant. Puglover - you're so lucky having a husband that is a cabinet maker! Folding doors do sound like a great idea Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3738Apr 29, 2016 8:18 pm Juannamo - sorry to hear about your issue. It sounds incredibly frustrating. From our experience when variations were made after colour selection appointment, we were required to sign off on two separate variation documents - one being for our us and the other being for HBC. These were signed by both my husband and myself before scanning, attaching and sending back to HBC. Did HBC follow the same process with you guys? Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3739Apr 29, 2016 8:41 pm Bugnada, that's wonderful news! My husband will be very happy to hear that your table fits nicely. Yes we did get the pantry cavity door as per your advice. Thank you! I feel like I need to send you a big bunch of flowers. You've helped me a lot during the early days of this process. I love this forum. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3740Apr 29, 2016 8:49 pm You're more than welcome Jane610. This forum certainly is a huge help - such a great resource. I also got the cavity door idea for the pantry from someone's post on here. Can't remember who it was though!
