We originally were upgrading to the Australian Blackstone brick and when the price doubled from quote to tender we went looking again and were chuffed to have found the Eclipse as we really wanted a black brick. So we're were so grateful that the lady at PGH could save some for us. We are having white windows and roof etc with ours. We are in Pinchtail. How long did yours take in council and how long after that was your start date? We deposited on our land last Feb so probably like you, has been such a long process and so keen for it to happen as quickly as possible. I like what you did to your pantry. I was tossing up doing something similar bit wasn't sure if I would lose space but seeing as how it it so big anyway it will probably be plenty anyway. Have you got an estimate on your build time? Yeah we're actually pretty happy with the bricks, especially given that, like you, we weren't willing to pay double for the upgrades and there were not many options outside of reds and browns if you want to have dark bricks. Reds and browns didn't suit the rest of the feel of the house, so black it was. As for council, ours took the full 8 weeks due to lots of applications and a few errors on the certifier part. It got pretty annoying by the end because we felt most of the mistakes should have been picked up before submission. There were a lot of errors during the selection/estimation/admin stage that blew the time out as well. We actually investigated breaking the contract, but it was too late. Kind of glad now, because the site supervisor has been really good and things are moving along ok now. I imagine you'll get the same guy, so that'll be good. We have a couple of friends building in your stage, so I can vouch for at least some of your neighbours! Re: Coral Homes Daydream 30ish 17Apr 21, 2016 3:05 pm Oh gee. I hope that we don't have to wait that long. I had in my head a month and Hopi g that as we didn't make too many structural changes then it won't be too complicated, but who knows. Good to know we will have some good neighbours. Re: Coral Homes Daydream 30ish 18Apr 21, 2016 4:23 pm Becs Coral Oh gee. I hope that we don't have to wait that long. The whole process getting to site is a lengthy and painful one. We were approved in council in dec last year and we only just had our slab poured last week Re: Coral Homes Daydream 30ish 19Apr 21, 2016 6:52 pm Becs Coral Oh gee. Hopefully yours is that quick. Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4358 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74719 |
