The dig out has been completed. I decided to keep the dug out soil as I need a lot of fill on my block...I just didn't think the pile would be so big! I'm not sure when it will be poured, hopefully I find out tomorrow. At this stage, it's looking like Friday, Monday or Tuesday. The sooner the better if you ask me! Or are they coming back in-between to do that. They will lay the reo and the chairs (for the reo to sit on) on the day, but i thought he or his guys would be coming back to box it all off for you and make sure you're happy with it before they pour? Re: What's your double driveway width? 18Jan 21, 2009 7:58 pm I also thought they would've boxed it up today but the concreter told me they will be back on the day of pouring to do that as it only takes 20 minutes or so. He said the concrete will arrive about an hour later so I guess that gives me plenty of extra time to make any last minute adjustments. I was pretty clear in telling him exactly what I want today so I'm sure it will all work out fine. My only worry after that will be trying to keep the feral children in the area off my new driveway. I'm contemplating buying some of that orange barricade mesh to put up as a deterrent. The last thing I want is for it to be defaced in any way. Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Re: What's your double driveway width? 19Jan 23, 2009 9:09 am I was woken up by a phone call at 6.30am this morning and I'm very happy to report that my driveway has finally been poured!!!
They're still here at the moment so pictures will be up later today.... Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Still so much more to do..... Re: What's your double driveway width? 20Jan 23, 2009 6:48 pm Here we go....first pic of my new driveway!
It's dried out quite a lot since this first picture so it's a bit lighter in colour now. I'm still undecided about the stipple effect which was necessary to make it non-slip. Hopefully in time, it will become less obvious. Overall I'm pretty happy with the result and am now only waiting for the sealant to be applied over the weekend. I think I've made the right choice with the colour as it seems to match my charcoal roof tiles perfectly. One thing's for sure, it's made me want to finish my entire front garden NOW! Oh well, one thing at a time will have to do! Fence, paving, retaining wall - CHECK! Still so much more to do..... Thanks again for this information.
