Browse Forums Building A New House Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 271Apr 17, 2016 5:02 pm So we want to add a laundry chute, there's an ideal spot between our kids' bedrooms and the walk in laundry below is ideally placed. At the moment there's a floor joist running slightly across the void but it's nicely supported already on a wall frame, so I reckon we can trim it short; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Just below where the black cross is is the offending joist, so that joist can be trimmed short I'm sure. The one to the right is already shorter, so no structural issues. Above there's a perfect void between our kids bedrooms, we just need to find a suitable door; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm thinking a 500mm diameter aluminium pipe or similar, about 2m in length should do it. Now just need to source a decent self closing door for entry and an open top cabinet for receiving the laundry. Any ideas? I know Neville S is doing something similar. ![]() Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 273Apr 17, 2016 7:07 pm Doubt it twin_dad, it doesn't really lead anywhere. I'll ask the SM though. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 274Apr 18, 2016 10:08 am Turns out the cavity isn't for air conditioning but doesn't align between floors, so the laundry chute idea is out. Never mind. Re: Our Metricon Liberty 45 on the Northern Beaches, Sydney 275Apr 18, 2016 10:17 am So met with SM today, he definitely gets things done where he can. Great 'can do' attitude. Hebel can be done to the first floor but there's going to be an extra charge (to be confirmed). Alternatively, the EPS can be installed on battens so it's flush with the Hebel below (but still with an expansion gap) for no extra charge. Both acceptable to us, just awaiting Hebel cost before deciding. In other news, any advice on extra noggins for flat panel TVs? We have 6 in the house, I was thinking of having extra noggins at around 1.2-1.3m above floor level. I think mine were $80 or $90 each I actually disputed the cost but they still charged me. So I only got three.
