Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Apr 03, 2016 6:03 pm My wife and I are in the early pre contract stages of getting a house built. I'm looking at installing undertile heating in the ensuite and bathroom and want to know roughly how much self levelling concrete costs per m2. This will have to go over the heating cables before tiles will be laid and it's the only thing I'm not sure about cost wise. If anyone can help me out that would be great! Re: Self levelling concrete. Anyone know cost? 2Apr 04, 2016 2:35 pm Hi, I bought a bag from Bunnings, did the ensuite, only needed to do about 3m2. Had to level (slab was never right here), and smooth after removing old tiles, before putting in waterproof floorboards. From memory: $75 for the bag. Check their web site. bob Re: Self levelling concrete. Anyone know cost? 4Apr 04, 2016 8:32 pm Hi, Yes, easy to pour. I was worried it would set too fast, 10 mins. according to the instructions, so I did it in small (1m2) sections, which was a mistake. I've never used it before, so didn't know how it acted once mixed and poured. I could have done it easily in one hit, but it turned out fine anyway. I had a slope of about 10mm over 2m. I only brought that back to 5mm. I don't know HTF they managed that, I've checked the rest of the house with a level, and can't find any slope elsewhere. Maybe they were short of mix. I actually didn't care about the slope, it's been that way for 21 years, and I didn't know. I was only smoothing the floor initially, but seeing I had to buy some I thought I may as well get the bag, as the Irishman said: "to be sure, to be sure". The bag only gave a powder weight to water info, so I had to figure out a weight to volume (for the powder) before I could mix it into the water. I was like a mad professor! Doing the whole lot in one go would have been much easier. It says not to use a spiral mixer, but as it was the only one I had, I used that. You sound as though you'll be doing a larger area. You're going to need a bigger bucket. Are you welded to using tiles? I ask because we were going to do tiles on the floor, shower, and partway up the walls (ie. no skirting). We found some really nice waterproof flooring, at Bunnings of all places, looks good, and which locks together. It feels warmer than the tiles. We ended up having no tiles (and no grout), used acrylic sheet in the shower, and my wife made skirting board out of some SmartSheet (I think that's what it's called, could be SmartSide) we had left over. Even used a piece of the flooring for a splashback, as a nice change from tiles. bob. Re: Self levelling concrete. Anyone know cost? 5Apr 05, 2016 10:12 am Thanks for the info. We're not locked into tiles but that what we want in there. It doesnt matter so much that they might feel cold since there's going to be under tile heating there. The cool tiles will feel nice in summer. Hi guys, I want to do some floor levelling before laying the planks and am considering doing it with self-levelling or yellow tongue PB board. I am wondering which one… 0 6532 The most definitive answer to your question James is this taken from the James Hardie Axon Cladding Installation Guide - i just happen to have it… 5 3661 |
