Maybe they used two different batches and the colour was different Re: New carpet installation problems 6Apr 07, 2016 1:27 pm Hi, Here's some more photos, I uploaded to Photobucket. I still can't see how to just add them via the forum, many just have an "add attachment" function. First 3 are at the laundry doorway: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This one is the bathroom doorway: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They are all along the "length", the across the "width" transitions are all fine. I don't know the correct terms, I remember weft & warp in weaving cloth, width is thickness I think (Never mind the quality, feel the width). I should Google! The carpet is definitely the same colour, just depends on the "point of view". If you're looking towards light, it doesn't show up. When replying, try to not include the pics, it will make the thread very long. Unless Thanks, dRdoS7 Re: New carpet installation problems 7Apr 07, 2016 4:49 pm Hi, Michelle Here are Bob's photos of his carpet - what is everyone's opinions?? Thanks for posting the pics. I see you've used PhotoBucket. External sites must be the only option for adding photos. bob Re: New carpet installation problems 8Apr 07, 2016 6:07 pm No problem Bob, glad you found how to post yourself, no stopping you now Those new photos need to be fixed for sure, the carpet will fray if not stretched back over the pins/smooth edge. Seems a shocking job all round really.... Is it because the carpet on one side has been laid in the opposite direction? I have read that carpet should all be laid in the same direction, but did that just mean the stripes, not off the roll? I need to know for sure to further my discussions with the shop. According to the owner, the shading is due to the way it was rolled up (ie the opposite direction to the other pieces) after rough cutting, for transport to here. I thought that was BS. But what do I know! We asked another carpet layer to come and have a look, but once he saw it, he wouldn't give a straight answer to any of the faults. Sounded like a Pollie (not the parrot type, although they do too). I do know who I won't be asking to fix them, if the owner doesn't make them good. I even asked my ex-BIL, he's been a carpet cleaner for > 25 years. He thought it was laid incorrectly. I also found this a few days (or 6) ago: https://www.hopkinscarpetone.com/resour ... -flooring/ dRdoS7 Re: New carpet installation problems 10Apr 11, 2016 1:40 am Hi Bob Not sure if I will be very helpful here but I've been working at a vacate cleaning company in Melbourne for a few years and I've seen many carpeted rooms while carrying out inspections after the cleaners. There's definitely something wrong with the way they've installed your carpet. I believe it should be laid in the same direction - not only the stripes but off the roll, too. Hope all gets sorted real soon, good luck! Re: New carpet installation problems 11Apr 29, 2016 5:51 am My money is on it being laid in reverse. If so you can tell by running a lint remover (those red suede wand looking things) across both sides of the join in the same way to establish pile direction. If it were legitimate pile reversal or reverse shading then I would always attempt to position that piece somewhere smarter than a butt join. a.) it rarely looks that uniform & only usually affects 2ish metres. The carpet is a little difficult to stop from bending over like it has at the edges but acheivable. (Skirtings are your friend) Give the manufacturer a call and see if their rep will come take a look based on your photos. Might have to bribe them though. I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6678 Hi all, has anyone been ask to do the weeds in their property while in the middle of build?
