Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 26, 2016 7:56 am We have commenced a new build. We would love to put a pool in and are interested in opinions about size and placement. Here's some basic points.... We have teenagers so don't need massive one. We also have a large dog who loves to sleep all day but he still needs some space! There's an easement at the back. We are on a very high slab due to a flood overlay on our block. Outdoor space is an L Shape with sliding doors to both sides. See plans below. Any advice???? Thanks!! We are putting in a pool across the back fence, as close to fence line as permitted. We have 4 small kids so we are having one hat is about 8m X 4m. In my opinion, teenagers mean the pool needs to be bigger rather than smaller. You should take your plan to some local pool companies for their opinion. They will tell you what will work the best for your site. Good luck, a pool can be so much fun and great for summer entertaining. Teenagers, unlike young children, need a bigger pool. Children wants a splash and thats it. So I would go at least 6-8 metre length and if you can stretch the budget then go for 8m Width, I would go for 3 metres. This will give you a nice space on both sides to put a sun bed and for the children to run around. I would also put it infront of the alfresco as close to Lot 56. So when you are chilling in the alfresco you will also be next to the pool and also view the pool from the living. The other point is if you add a sliding door in your master you can access the pool directly without having to go through the house. So 8x3 as close to lot 56 as possible.
