We've had quotes here in Adelaide from Stegbar that are quite cheap, but the thing that's bugging me a bit with the cookie-cutter wardrobe places is that their systems tend to be space-inefficient. We have built-ins that are nominally 600mm deep, leaving 530mm clear inside the sliding doors. Then the wardrobe places will go and put drawers in that may only have as little as 340mm of usable depth. Sure, it's handy to have thick drawer fronts and backs, and cabinet backs, with some room for tolerances, and then some room for fancy handles, but in the end you're losing nearly half the space. Then they'll overhang the drawer fronts on the underside, which further limits capacity. Because of this, I'm looking at just buying the metal drawer sides and chipboard and making them up. I'm hoping to fit a 500mm drawer in, giving 480mm usable depth, perhaps with with full-extension runners so you can actually use it all. Thanks, I've heard of Vista. Might be alright for wardrobes. I know what you mean about the wasted space.. I feel putting he top shelf at 2100 with 2700 doors is not the best use of space . Need to think about it to get it right, I've got two thread going now the recs and the WIR thread.. Good idea. Good luck Re: Fitting out wardrobes 8Mar 15, 2016 6:58 am TomCat We got custom fitout for a large WIR was cheaper than IKEA (and much nicer)! Good idea. Good luck Thanks. I rang IKEA their only for their own wardrobes. Don't fancy hacking it. Plus we are the least DIY ppl known to man kind.. I'd prefer to outsource to ppl who know what they're doing and let my wallet bleed . We've lined up a few quotes. Even if we just get our WIR and linen done for now.
