Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Forever home on 5 acres - PCI Booked 163Mar 20, 2016 9:14 pm Inspection went well. Only some very minor cosmetic things to tend to, most of which have been done now . Should have keys in the next couple of weeks, just waiting for the final payment to go through. We will begin painting in April. I'm looking forward to having that done so everything looks more completed. Still deciding on what we will do for the main flooring but we won't be moving in permanently for sometime so we have plenty of time to decide and get it done. Love your beautiful oven/cooktop You must be very excited to get the keys soon... will be nice not having to rush to make those final decisions too. All the best with key handover and looking forward to seeing some more pics soon Re: Forever home on 5 acres - Key, painting & pics! 166Apr 24, 2016 10:30 pm Well we have had a busy few weeks. We finally got our keys. It had been arranged that our supervisor would mail them out to us once the final payment went through. I diligently checked the mail everyday to no avail. Rang to check when they had been sent.... only to find he had 'forgot' to send them It was quite a let down getting the keys to our new house was something we had been eagerly anticipating and planning for ... anyway we finally got them and the house is now officially ours We have spent the last 8 days at the house .. 5 of which were spent painting the inside... omg what an effort We invested in a paint sprayer which was the best $$ spent and made doing the ceilings much easier. We will also take all the doors off and use it to spray them in the gloss coat. We managed to get most the house done, just the hallway, bathrooms, laundry, robes and pantry left to do a top coat on. I am thrilled with how it is all looking and the overall feel of the house. It is very hard leaving it each time and knowing it will be a while before we move there permanently but on the flipside it means we can take our time getting everything done. So a few pics of our progress (excuse the 'make shift furniture' the 'good' furniture is at our current house lol) Kitchen .. my favourite room in the house Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dining / kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Entry way Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Front door will be white and I am still deciding whether to paint the glass door white or leave natural Living room Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hallway Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Laundry Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Master Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hubby has started putting up the shelving in our WIR. No floor coverings yet as we haven't decided whether we will go wood floors or tiles. We are leaning heavily towards wood floors which will mean waiting until we have the funds to get them done! Curtains and concreting the verandahs (so over the sand!) is next on the list. Along with painting the outside! I am really happy with the kitchen and our tile choice, it is definitely just how I had pictured and the look I was aiming for. Wood floors is our preference or wood look tiles...
