Thanks in advance Hi Sally and Craig, I think they have to put the metal strip around the island bench in the kitchen because the kitchen is put in before the flooring. I have attached a photo of a display home with the metal strip around the island bench. I hope this helps. I thought it looked okay. My issue is that it has been put on the two living room windows where the window frame meets the bamboo floor, and I hate how it looks there. We have no windows in the lounge/dining/kitchen area as we have 2 sets of stacker doors that open up the back of the house the only real window is in a hallway to the main bedroom so hopefully it wont bother me [/quote] They have put the metal strip where our stacker sliding door is too, but it really isn't so noticeable there because you have the metal door frame anyway so it blends in so to speak. Hi EM1 I would assume it would be a metal strip between the 2 floor types similar to the edge on bathrooms unless they have an edge in the laminate that they use. In our current house, which is an Eden Brae, there is no strip where the carpet meets the tiles. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13135Mar 06, 2016 7:50 am Hi, waterline was Set at about 1m from fences (that was the minimum) not sure if that is just council rules but we weren't allowed to go closer . From the house was meant to be 1.5 m (Mac jones requirements) but it's actually 1.2 m which is plenty of room to get around. We have a very small backyard about 5.5m from back of house to back fence so we just used all the space we could. The size is fine it's maybe 2.7m x 6.5m I think in total. We had no easements to deal with. I have a friend who is just starting to build a pool with a sewer to be encased but hAvent actually starting any building so can't tell you how that went. Digging and doing the shell for ours was easy. Took a couple of days. It was done before the house was built. Just couldn't get the pool guys to come back and finish . So just don't go near better pools and spas ! MDJ advised that CDC application will take 4 to 8 weeks when it was lodged. does that really take that long or they just advise long just to avoid from client inquires? I don't specifically know about that council sorry but i thought the cdc process was intended to be faster than DA? Our DA was about 7 weeks i think but CDC here was under 2 weeks. They may be covering their butt by saying 4-8 weeks but every council is different with their timing too. Hi. We finished building about 5 months ago but ours was cdc thru Liverpool council. Took one week . So don't worry it's all very quick. Pool took 1 or 2 days to approve also so all very very quick. This is one risk of signing a contract to build (assuming you have signed the dotted line), when land is still a long way from rego. In our case, we bought land Aug2014 with vendor advising rego to take place late 2015. Did a lot of research and countless visits to display homes and eventually chose MDJH from a couple of builders. Our tender for 12mos commenced Mar2015 and is about to expire. Got a few weeks extension for free so no extra payment required to keep our tender. On the other hand, having a tender amount locked in and paying extra to keep the price means you are avoiding the hike in build prices. Base price for our 23sq house went up by $20K from time we signed the tender and last time I checked, 3 months ago. Might have gone up again since then. Each case is different so best still to ask the developer/vendor and also MDJH. If you go over the 6 months a full price review of your tender will be done. Thats what ive been told by my CLO. Ive been lucky, i signed my 1 year tender in July 2015, got an email last month and ive been advised registration will be June 2016. Fingers crossed, i might only have to pay $1000 at most for going over the tender period. Hope this helps.
