Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 31, 2008 6:39 pm Well, we have a huge year coming up. Along with the start of construction of our new home (we're up to frame stage - should be in in March), I'm 15 weeks pregnant and madly searching websites for ideas on contemporary baby nurseries.
I'm tempted to go for reds (we aren't going to find out the sex) but at this stage thinking of a feature wall of blue, green, tiny bit of pink, purple and white stripes in varying widths and everything else white. Anyone suggest good websites for ideas? Re: Website suggestions for baby nursery 2Dec 31, 2008 8:46 pm I looked into american websites. We are lucky enough to have relatives over there so had a lot of stuff sent back.
I worked a little differently - I ordered all my furniture first then worked from there. If you are ordering furniture from companies such as Boori or Mali make sure you order with plenty of time to spare. I ordered ours at 28wks and only just got the main items the week before DD was born (although she was 4wks early). Good websites to pick peoples brains about nursery decor is BubHub and Essential Baby. Congratulations on your pregnancy - I adore being pregnant - here is hoping that you enjoy this special time. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Website suggestions for baby nursery 3Jan 01, 2009 12:30 pm Hi MBBN!.....Congrats on the pregnancy!. Planning my babies rooms and kids room has got to be the best part of building (for me anyway)!!. I chose something neutral for my little girl, mainly because with the other two i went all out with the girl and boy colours. A fantastic and really cute retro range for bubs is this one from linen house........ http://www.cottonbox.com.au/ProductDeta ... uctID=6327. I love it...super cute. I would probably do a feature wall but in a plain colour and use some of the beautiful wall decals you can get (from everywhere now) to jazz it up. I will also put in a link for the linen i chose for Millies room, its organic cotton and pretty neutral so i can mix in other colours.... http://www.kidsline.com.au/
Our cot is a very dark choc brown so it works well! Good luck with it.....its soooo much fun!..... I hope i haven't done anything wrong with posting those links mods, i am not too sure of the rules Re: Website suggestions for baby nursery 4Jan 01, 2009 2:22 pm Flissfloss we all post links to websites for others all the time. as long as they are on topic it should be fine. The only time people get offended is when people obviously post purely to promote their own businesses or when the posting is offensive or completely off topic.
Some lovely sites there. Best wishes for the new house and new bub. Wow what a big year you have ahead of you MBBN. Red isn't supposed to be a very soothing colour for bedrooms ( though we had it on every wall of our bedroom) However very small babies see strong colours better than pastels. so make of that what you will. Perhaps go something soft colourwise with splashes of colour in linen and furnishings. ie cushions, curtians, tie backs. decorative frames or ornaments etc etc. babies grow up awfully fast. so unless you plan to move bub to a new room you might want to consider how you will change your 'babies" room into a toddler or small child room without major redecorating. Darker paint colours take extra paint work to change later and if you have a toddler/small child underfoot time becomes precious. However whatever you decide please post pictures. I'm always so envious of the beautiful rooms everyone posts on here and some of those room ideas on the baby and toddler designer websites are beautiful. I buy all my kids bedding from there and get it shipped to www.myus.com I've been doing it for years and it's sensational service!! The bedding is gorgeous. They charge you $10 to place the order and then forward the package on to you. Great decorating ideas too!! Re: Website suggestions for baby nursery 7Jan 17, 2009 7:17 am I have been pouring over Google for the last ½ hour; I can’t find any good images for you…..Very sad.

My only word of advice if i was in your shoes would be to wait until you know the sex and decorate then.
My daughter only just turned 2 and she has very strong ideas about her room already. She pulls out all the pink paint samples and pushes them into my face!! I bought her the Brooke Bedding from Pottery Barn Kids and wanted to paint her room light green with pink pictures etc...When I tried to show her the green samples she toddled over to the bin and dumped them!! Pink it is!!! My 2 boys (3 and 5) will not settle for anything other than blue. My oldest has a sports theme which he chose and my 3 year old chose airplanes. I did a Nursery for my first and within 18 months he outgrew it and little boy theme replaced it. Alot of work redoing it!!
