We have noticed that ours are not painted, however in our last house (which was an AV Jennings) they were painted and we feel they should be as the door is not properly sealed if they are left raw. We are 2 to 3 weeks from completion now and just getting together a list of things we are noticing that will need to be rectified. We only live around the corner form our build so visit very regularly lol. Ours haven't been painted - PCI next week. The doors have stickers saying if they are not painted they are not covered by warranty etc as they are not fully covered / sealed. Thanks KristyLee, so it seems standard that they don't paint them. Will you be bringing this up at your PCI? We definitely will be. They are actually replacing one of our doors because it is warped. If the tops and bottoms don't get painted then they will be open to damage. Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 13113Feb 27, 2016 2:47 pm All resolved with MJH, they were able to come back to us with a solution that we are happy with. Started late September. We had the frame up, roof on and bricks started by Christmas. The brickie was due to start back on the 4th Jan, perfectly timed for 2 weeks of dreadful weather! He got stuck in once it cleared up and as of last week we were locked up. Gyprock is done and the Kitchen should have arrived today, tiles next week. We've had a great Site Supervisor however due to some restructuring we'll have to swap next week. Would have been nice to keep the same one through the whole build. I guess we're looking at 6-8 weeks till completion now. Starting to get close! Hi gavandheather, that is great news for you guys that you are getting close to completion. Would love to see some photos. We only just got the keys to our Monte Carlo about 2 weeks ago and are loving our new home. We haven't had any problems whatsoever since we moved in. We too had a great site superviser. We only just got our driveway done a few days ago. We are just waiting for them to come back and seal it. At least now we don't have to walk through the mud! Our CLO couldn't provide us with a straight answer which is frustrating! Hi Jazz Have you started to build yet? It seems like yesterday when we both were at colours around the same time. We have been in our new home since early December, which was about six weeks early. Very very happy with the house. We were told if we went past the tender time, that the best was to pay $ 1,000 per month. We did not have to pay, as we were 2-3 days with in the the deadline date. I also have been told that our home has gone up by about $ 20k now. Hey David, how are you going in your new home? How is the landscaping coming along? Big job isn't it. We got our keys 2 weeks ago and got our driveway down a couple of days ago. Soooooo nice to have a driveway. We are going to concentrate on getting our yard done before we get any floor coverings. Slabs are not real comfortable to live on though! We are thinking of putting a pool in too and was curious to know if you could answer a few questions for me. Please feel free to PM me. Can you tell me what the distances are between the water line and side and rear fences? The distance between our house and our back fence is 4.8 metres so the pool we want to get can't be anything bigger than 2.0 m wide we are assuming. Curious to know what the minimum distances have to be. We also have a sewer line running across our back yard which may mean having to encase the pool. Did you guys have a similar issue? Cheers, Nai scsc11111111 Hi everyone haven't been on for a while as we are pretty much done . We have had the side of the house (a pathway) flooded a couple of times by neighbours property. We have added two drains in the backyard to stop this happening again. We Also have a rear tap with no drain under it which I'm sure can't be right ? But anyway all sorted out we seem to have fixed the drainage issues and for first time in 4 months I have a dry backyard woo hoo! Pool is finally done ! Let me say to anyone considering a pool - don't go near better pools and spas . Been an absolute nightmare trying to get them to finish the pool but it's finally done . Here are some pics. Good luck with all of your builds great to see everyone making progress. We are Pretty happy with the quality of the house mjh built. Few minor issues that have been sorted . Don't think I would ever go through all this again but we have a lovely home now that we love.
