Also is there a way to work out what lens would suit the application not sure on multiples, there is a HDMI output to one TV but not sure if HDMI can be split, you could (if u have smart Tv with web access) just use the web software to watch in real time on as many web enabled TV as you like (or iphones etc), otherwise you could have a pc hooked up to the TV if not a smart TV and watch throguh there Bels Bear in mind though that what you're purchasing from aliexpress would now be China region cameras that have been hacked to english so there will be no firmware updates available without messing around with various things first. They will only work on China region NVRs generally with newer firmware. So if you do what to go down that route, get your cams and NVRs together all from aliexpress and you'll be less likely to have compatibility issues. Nic and Shell 1 So how do you work out if there hacked or not. I'm assuming even if you buy off eBay be the seller from China or Aus there going to have the hacked firmware? Not sure you really can but what he is saying is to buy all together preferably from same seller to make sure theya re all compatible... i did this bought the NVR and cameras from china and will continue to buy more cameras from same seller as well... with len's its hard to tell... 4mm is about 170 degree field of view and 6mm 120 degree i've tried both over a 16m distance and the 6mm worked best to get number plates... however the 6mm over 30m is pretty useless for number plates but could make out people but not faces... you would need to go to 12mm for 30m but field of vision is relaly reduced.... here is 4mm and 6mm on same spot... to show you the differences this is approx 16m distance give or take.... 4mm on normal view: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/4mm_zpsioydw9yr.jpg 4mm zoomed in on car can barely read number plate: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/4mmb_zpshk40cadv.jpg 6mm on normal view: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/6mm_zps0uo3woxz.jpg 6mm zoomed in on can can clearly read the number plate: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b38/njectme/6mmb_zpsonzavtdt.jpg Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 154Feb 17, 2016 10:46 am Yes thanks for that, gives an idea on where to go. Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 155May 15, 2016 12:42 am Format they record in is H264, can be viewed by any media player that has that codec. Trial and error is the best method for lens selection. The effective quality increase of 4MP over 3MP in my opinion is not worth the upgrade. But what I do is use an inexpensive Chromecast dongle to cast my camera app from my phone onto the big screen. Not ideal because you still need the phone app. Alternatively you could use a cheap Android HDMI stick that can constantly run the camera app, and all you need to do is flick sources with your TV remote. I use Apple TV to mirror from my phone which isn't ideal but ok if looking occasionally otherwise hdmi straight to the tv from nvr but then keyboard control becomes a problem Re: IP CCTV system recommendations 160May 16, 2016 6:54 pm RJMM_H1 bpratt Have you guys found any apps for smart tv's that can access your cameras easily ? That seems like a possibility... now just to try and find something that will work. My camera's go straight to my NAS, so I can't plug that in to the tv. I'd hoping one of these tv manufacturers had already got an app for their tv's that supported this sort of thing. Thanks for the other replies too.
