Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Newbie Building in Mckeachies Run 2Feb 15, 2016 4:21 am Hi Lexi, Welcome to the forum. My Hubby and I are currently living in Aberglasslyn after selling our home in gillieston heights. We love it here! There are parks, a sports field, walking/jogging paths and the shop is so convenient. We have great neighbours too I say with a really sad heart that we are moving this year as we are building a new home in Chisholm (waterford county, where all the display homes are). Our build so far has been slow and painful. Hopefully we'll see a slab poured next month. Not sure what to do about your tree? How big is it? We have a smallish tree out the front right where our driveway is going but hubby is confident that he'll be able to relocate it a couple of meters to the right. Have you picked colours yet? Looking forward to following your build My Homeone Thread - Re: Newbie Building in Mckeachies Run 3Apr 21, 2016 10:32 pm Hi Dream Home Oh my gosh I am so sorry I never got a email notification on your reply and just thought nobody ever talked to me on this post and forgot about it. I feel so bad Nice to meet you lol and thank you so much for your reply!! We have since resolved the tree problem and I hope the poor thing survives! We have progressed fairly well with our build so far and have now got a roof I can't figure out posting pictures on here lol but all our colour choices ect are on the blog. Have you got a blog or build thread on here? How is your progress going and who are you building with? Thats really good to know about the area it seems really lovely we have met our neighbours already too and they are all lovely! (you don't have to answer if you dont want too lol) but may I ask why the move to Chisholm (it is lovely there too we have been through all the displays up there and seems very peaceful!). Have you always been local to the area? Sorry for all the questions lol just curious and also massive apologies for the huge delay I thought I ticked the email notification thingy for this post but maybe not as it was my first one I think lol. Hope everything is going well for you! Hope everything is going well for you! All good Lexi. I am still learning how to use this site too. You can upload photos directly from your mobile phone from the tapatalk app, or you can upload them to the photo bucket website (just google photo bucket) and copy and past them from there to the homeone site. I`ll jump on to your blog and have a look. My thread link should be pinned to the bottom of this comment. We resolved our tree problem too, we moved it 3M and now it looks pretty sad. Hopefully this rain helps bring it back to life. I grew up in Maitland so yes always been a local. Before I lived here I lived at Pelican for 7yrs (from birth lol). We originally wanted to live in Chisholm but decided on Gillieston Heights because the land was cheaper and we thought that there would be a shop and school ect. We loved it there too but the area just didn`t turn out as we had hoped. The promised schools & shops never went in. We sold our home right before the floods last year, before Gillieston heights became Gillieston island lol. (another reason why we are glad we sold.) Had we of built in Mckeachies Run, I doubt we would have sold. It`s great here and like I said the shop is so convenient lol. We are building with Oracle, they are a qld company and they have been a nightmare to deal with to say the least. I`m so relieved that we have finally started building. Well the site has been cut and we have plumbing in lol. My Homeone Thread - Re: Newbie Building in Mckeachies Run 5Apr 24, 2016 1:10 am Awesome thanks Ill go check out your thread now Lol yes our poor tree is so very sad hopefully both our trees get rejuvenated a little in the rain . We are both from the Central Coast so its a fairly big move/change for us and its lovely to be able to talk to locals and get to know the area a bit more. Even buying a run down house where we are now was out of our price range so its a huge difference for us to actually be able to build up there its amazing! Aww okay yeah that really sux, thats what attracted us to mckeachies the fact that they already put the shops and childcare in and it was fairly established we didn't find Chisholm and some of the other estates until after we brought our block lol, Chisholm looks really lovely too Oh gosh yeah so lucky you sold before then that was so crazy all the flooding! Especially with so many families building in there, hopefully they can fix it soon, we did look at Gilliston first but yeah then came the floods so we had to cross it off immediately lol. Awesome Im so glad Mckeachies is nice it seems so beautiful in there and defiantly the shop is a plus! Aww that sux I will go check out your feed and catch up but congrats on site cut and plumbing it feels so good when they finally start . One of my friends is going to build with Oracle in Cooranbong but their land doesn't register until later in the year. I will tell her to read your thread too if she hasnt already she's keen to see info from other people building with them. Hopefully it gets better for your from here in! Thanks for getting back to me Re: Newbie Building in Mckeachies Run 6Apr 25, 2016 6:30 am I think I walked past your home yesterday lol. Is there another Hudson home being built across the road? If yes, then you are just around the corner from me now. Being flooded in at Gillieston was a forced holiday for Hubs and I, so kind of a blessing, but at the same time it was horrible Tell your friends to walk away if they haven`t already paid their deposit. We still haven`t had an email from them telling us that they have taken possession of our block. We tried contacting them for 3 weeks straight everyday and no one would take our call or return it, they told us that our plans were in council but when we called council they never had the plans, once plans were out of council it took them 3 months to apply for our construction certificate which could have and should have been done the day they came out of council, they just did deliberate delays and would never tell us what was going on. TELL THEM TO WALK AWAY! We considered buying an established home but for not much extra at all you can build a brand new home so why not I had a read of your blog -I love it! You have added so much detail and personality to it. I`m sure anyone who is considering building with Hudson, or even considering building at all, would appreciate it My Homeone Thread - Re: Newbie Building in Mckeachies Run 7Apr 26, 2016 12:50 pm Lol that could have been us not sure though will have to investigate the other side a little more. Aww yeah I can't even imagine it would have been really hard they really need to do something about testers hollow and get it fixed its such a lovely estate in there! Oh my gosh I will see how they are going. That's crazy they should only have 20 days from council approval until they commence on site (that's how ours was anyway) but we had complying development so might be different. Lol yes exactly well it's actually literally cheaper for us with the first home buyers grant plus not having to pay stamp duty so it worked out even better Aww thank you so much that's really lovely feedback I'm really enjoying writing it and it's nice to have all the stages documented as we go lol. Did you build your gilleston house? If yes who with and how was it lol? I'm hoping you have some progress on site today and that oracle starts pulling themselves together more! 7 6272 I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago.
