Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 06, 2016 1:53 pm http://m.dulux.com.au/trade/colour/p/PN ... on-quarter We had our build painted about 1 month ago, i noticed that the gloss areas(doors and skirting) had a bit of a yellow tinge to them, seems to show more in photos. the doors, walls and skirting are all painted with lexicon quater, the walls are nice and white though teh gloss seems yellow. Our SS told us that its normal to yellow, really??? yellow within 1 month? It was REALLY noticeable on certain doors (ensuite). Apparently the whole place had been painted right before we moved in (2012). I don't remember it being yellow when we moved in. That happens when it's not exposed to a lot of sun in some enamels. I also understand that if semi gloss or gloss ie enamel is applied in proximity to products containing ammonia (cleaning products and Ta da.. Water based paints) it can yellow. Therefore if the skirts and doors and walls are painted on the same day and the house is closed overnight while it dries the akaloyd based enamel can yellow. Ill be bringing it up at 6 month maintenance for sure. I honestly can't believe that it's lexicon quarter. I feel like perhaps Lexicon was one of them... I think that could be because they want to paint it quickly and if they do the water based and enamel based very close together, the ammonia in the water based will cause the enamel to yellow. If your walls were a different colour you probably wouldn't have noticed the yellowing so quickly but next to white wall paint it's going to be more obvious Re: Does Lexicon quarter Yellow? 13Feb 10, 2016 6:25 am I can't see all the comments but does the lexicon 1/4 yellow and if so is it just the cavity slider doors? Re: Does Lexicon quarter Yellow? 14Feb 10, 2016 12:51 pm Hey, I don't think it matters what the colour is. The problem is oil based paint vs water based paint. If you use oil based paint and it does not get much sunlight it will start to yellow eventually. Apparently water based paint does not have this issue. I did some research on this when choosing our paint and yellowing is fairly common when using oil based paint. I am wondering which one… 0 7631 Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)?
