Who is building with Beechwood

No, but we got the same impression. I too, felt kinda guilty for having so many questions BUT we did also go through a free tender process with Masterton and the sales woman was sooo thorough (i.e. voluntarily went through each clause and gave us an opportunity to stop her each time we wanted to clarify something), so she set a high bar.

Plus we just know builders are rarely (or never!) on your side when it comes to the tender or contract. I remember someone asking (maybe in this Homeone forum) whether you'd put down a deposit on a car without knowing the full price or what was included in that price - the obvious answer is "no" so it bugs me that builders expect us all to do the same given it is a pretty big purchase/commitment!

That's fine, I am not worried about anyone reading. It's a public forum and anyone can read it. It's not like anyone is saying anything nasty.

I think builder sales people might lose track of the fact that they might go through these details several times a week, yet for the majority of their potential customers it is their first, and possibly only, time.

Things that are probably obvious or even seem like common sense to them might appear to be pretty frightening to a customer, until they ask about it.

People also have budgets, and they do not know what things cost, what are small changes and what are big changes. This means, until they query about it they don't know if they can add something or not.

It may get mundane for the sales people, and might even make potential buyers come across as stupid or a PITA, but we simply do not know any better.

Or possibly they worry they do not want to invest so much time and effort to end up not going through anyway, which is a reasonable concern.

I am a Business Analyst, so its natural for me to ask a lot of questions, and I understand our "free" tender will not be precise.

As I said to our sales person, we are pretty happy with the tender, just want to clear up a few points and check some costs.

Trust me I don't disagree, I just thought I'd give you the heads up as you're just starting the process. Some people are already difficult to deal with. I used to sit there thinking did you really just say that to a paying customer. It wasn't until we were having trouble getting through council and our salesperson said not my problem, that I unleashed on here. I didn't mention names, but she had a chat to my husband about my rant.

Because we love the floorplan and trust me, after the meetings we had. We looked at ALL other builders

The usual statements here on this forum, we loved the floor plan, they were cheaper, etc.

How often has it been said that the build quality was better on the homes we visited or when we door knocked completed homes the owners gave positive reviews or complaints against Beechwood were less than other builders when Dept of Fair trading were contacted?

I guess things like that don't count, the minnons will keep lining up blinded by the glitzy lights and cheaper prices, i guess it is the way of the modern world.

Want some photos of the excellent build standards of Beechwood, P.M me I have plenty showing how poor it is, every brick of a new home pulled down and relaid, rusting slabs, brickwork overhanging slabs etc, etc.

So Mrwoody this forum is only for "how amazing" it all is, I thought the idea behind the forum was to inform people about good and bad.

Maybe you are a Beechwood rep?

Were are we up to, we have finished, we are disgusted with the quality, have utilised Dept of fair trading to get some things fixed and are now heading to the tribunal through our solicitors for other things.

Well maybe that is a good thing as people instead of being blinded by the lights may start looking on the other side as well.

Every brick in this house was eventually pulled down

Well that doesnt look good. Until ive had trouble with the build i cant rubbish them. At this warly stage ive only had dramas with a sales rep. But you have good reason to be upset with that slab and by the sounds of it, your whole build.

I think we all want the good and the bad but we also have to remember we are all in different areas and how one might be treated is certainly not how another will be. I have to say im more than happy with the quality of my build but again it's like anythint some with fly through with no problems and others will have many. Its unfortunate but its just what happens regardless of the builder.
