Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 61Oct 26, 2015 5:05 pm The builder is saying they can either paint it over which will be hard as it's all chipped etc and not much sanding can do to fix it - or gyprock over? The plans don't have elevations for the theatre but it definitely says raked ceiling and nothing about the extra batons etc. Apparently gyrocking over will be at extra cost to us. I'm not sure what to do I just wish they'd actioned it when we commented on it weeks ago. Colorbond is due to go on in a few days so we have to sort it quickly Bit stressed! Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 62Oct 27, 2015 11:44 am Think we've decided just to get them to take the collar ties off and we'll have to research treatments and get it fixed ourselves at a later date . Other half has been busy trying to get the place wired up by the end of this week . Had a go at being ta and put all the plates in . Hard work getting the wires down the walls with the brick ties and insulation in there that's for sure ! Verandas had gyprock installed yesterday and there are guys here to put up guttering today. Everything is looking great, coming together so well. Love that couch too, it's gorgeous!! Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 65Oct 29, 2015 1:05 am Our SS came out today and we had a good chat and collar ties will come out before the weekend. Relieved now! Even with the few problems we've had so far the guys have been pretty good to deal with apparently colourbond is set to go on Monday and then next week our fireplace gets put in !! It apparently weighs 450kg so shall be interesting trying to get it in :p was a big investment for us so excited to see it ! Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 66Oct 29, 2015 11:57 am Wow sounds like a big week for you next week, how exciting to get to see your fireplace soon Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 67Oct 29, 2015 12:23 pm Glad its all coming together now, and the couch is lovely, king furniture is next to my gym and I'm too scared to go in because the prices from the windows scare me haha. Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 69Jan 30, 2016 11:51 pm It has come to our attention that we have breached copyright with our home design. We used the Karridale Retreat plan built by Rural Building as a base for our new home. We were under the impression that the plans we had designed by an independent designer had been changed appropriately and relied on them for their expertise. They and by this I also mean we have grossly and flagrantly abused the copyright laws and for this we offer and unreserved apology to Rural Building. As we have never built a home before we were unaware of the severity of our actions. Copyright of builders original plans is something that people reading this blog need to understand. They also need to ensure that there chosen designer or builder are made fully aware of where there designs originated from even if they feel they have come up with a new design. We have clearly made a major error which is going to have a major financial cost to ourselves and again would like to formally apologise and express our deepest regret of having infringed the copyright of ‘The Karridale Retreat’. Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 70Jan 31, 2016 2:21 am Hi, I'm sorry to hear what your going through. Surely your designer should know better! I would not be hard on yourself at all! I really don't see the big deal if you like a plan and build it through another company with some changes! Surely Rural building won't take it any further! Best of luck Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 71Jan 31, 2016 12:25 pm Hi Camowen, I've just come across your thread and wonder how your build has been going? I hope any issues you had before have all been sorted. It has been 3 months since the last post, your build I think is in the final stage already? I hope you have enjoyed the rest of the building experience Our Redink build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81681 Re: Serpentine Build - with Cachet Homes 72Jan 31, 2016 12:46 pm Oh sorry my tapatalk on my phone for some reason only showed the posts up till October last year, thus my silly questions! Now I can see the latest post. I am so sorry to hear about the copyright issue. I really hope that Rural will let go of this after your apology. But honestly I believe the designer should at the very least share half of the blame. After all they are the professionals and it should be part of their ethic code to prevent any copyright breaches in their work and as a consumer we don't have the trained eye for this sort of thing. Anyhow, I am sure things will get sorted for you soon. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17511 3 47413 Ask for references and speak to them.
