Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Show me your kitchen... 3001Jan 28, 2016 10:23 pm Hi all, I am new to this but the threads look great. We are replacing our kitchen. Can't change the footprint as we have tiles and open plan. Tiles are creamy beige and the walls toasted almond. Curtains throughout the lower floor are latte colour two tone matte and satin stripe (one colour). Looking at 2 pack cupboards in vivid white gloss, bench top in diamond gloss lunar stone, matte black drawer handles. Stove top is black glass. Oven (in wall) is black glass and stainless steel. Kitchen sink will be Blanco siligranite 2 tub with drainer in matte black. I need ideas for the splash back!! The kitchen designer suggested either a glass splash back in a blue( with grey tinge) or black matte tiles. Ideas? Re: Show me your kitchen... 3002Mar 06, 2016 9:59 pm Hi All! I am also new to this thread, and I apologise if this topic has been brought up previously... I need help with lights! I really like the 3pendants over the island 'thing' that we're all doing now, but I'm seeing it everywhere, and it's putting me off - I don't know why! I've designed the layout and the island, but haven't been able to really picture any lighting for that area. We are having 2700mm ceiling height, and I decided that as we move into middle age we should have pendant lighting throughout. I definitely don't want to have to get on the big ladder to change a bulb - we're both shorties! So in the kitchen-dining area, the dining will have a pendant with three lights...maybe even two pendants with three lights each. So should I just repeat the two pendant theme with the same lights in the kitchen, centred in the kitchen 'area', as I'll have them centred in the dining room 'area', IYKWIM? While task lighting is nice, I've never found it necessary, and I refuse to have downlights and make Jarlsberg of my ceiling. I currently have miles of downlights -never, ever again! This is driving me nuts! It's a transitional kitchen, so won't look strange whatever style lights we choose. Alternatively, I was also thinking some kind of spotlights for the kitchen, but can't find any that hang low enough. I already made pendants for the sewing room from a batten fix pendant kit and I made shades from fabric and cooking twine moulded around a balloon with papier maché paste, to keep in the sewing theme. (Our land hasn't settled yet, so please feel free to call me insane! However I can 'see' it all in my head.) Should I go on to dream up something for the kitchen? My hubby can't help, as he has no talent for visualizing whatsoever...HELP!!! Does anyone know of lowish hanging lighting that can light up a kitchen all over without the pendants over the island? So many thanks in advance if anyone has any advice! Re: Show me your kitchen... 3004Mar 08, 2016 2:35 pm JayaJaya and Dimitheone this is a show me your kitchen thread. That was the point, CuttingEdgeKitchens, I wanted someone to show me their kitchen... with their lighting alternatives... and perhaps accompany that with a comment. I didn't mean to offend you. I haven't got a kitchen to show, yet. No disrespect, but CEK is right. There 150+ pages in this thread with many pictures peppered throughout, take the time to scroll through and develop thoughts around what grabs your fancy. You can also try Houzz and search for kitchen pendants. FYI I specifically did not do pendants as I did not want to draw focus away from the feature stone and dining chandelier. Good luck and best regards Mark Re: Show me your kitchen... 3011Apr 09, 2016 8:40 pm AussieMark JayaJaya That was the point, CuttingEdgeKitchens, I wanted someone to show me their kitchen... with their lighting alternatives... and perhaps accompany that with a comment. I'm trying to plan mine now and am having so much trouble picking colours. How did everyone else pick their colours? Any advice? Thanks, Hey Nelope. I reckon your best bet is to scroll through heaps of pics until there is a common theme in the kitchens that you are drawn to. I found this really helpful with bathroom colours too. Good luck and enjoy! Re: Show me your kitchen... 3014May 07, 2016 3:35 am First off there are so many lovely kitchens on this thread and I used them for inspiration. Well finally I get to show a little of my kitchen/ scullery. As i am doing this kinda remotely I get pics from family and the builder. All the door and drawer fronts are off as they are being painted. I am going sheen polar white on all of them. This is my kitchen island bench, 3m x 1.2m x 60mm Kitchen bench with backsplash Scullery That is the inside. The alfresco is also pretty full on. Here is the mock up in the work shop. The door next to the sink is a fully integrated dishwasher. The three drawers near the fridge is actually a moveable island. Now installed sans appliances, the gpo needs to be sorted. Island Shot with ceiling It will all look nice once the plastic is pulled off. The inside kitchen will look nice also when finished. I hope it is not bland with all the neutral tones. I just was not adventurous. Apologies for all the pics...... just excited. Re: Show me your kitchen... 3016May 07, 2016 10:13 am Thanks Stewie, The lining is western red cedar and the same is used on the drawer and door fronts. Yes I am really happy about how it turned out and the 66 year old guy that built it really takes pride in his work. Cheers Mark Re: Show me your kitchen... 3017May 15, 2016 1:18 am Hi Knyght, do you have any updated photos of your kitchen after your rangehood is installed? We have similar cupboards and tiles and we have just realised our builder stuffed up and so we won't have the plaster bulkhead that we thought we would but instead will have the top filler and cornice like yours. Seeing an updated photo of your kitchen will help me to visualise how it is going to look Thankyou! ETA: Oops, just realised you do have a small bulkhead above yours! Pictures would still help though if you can! Re: Show me your kitchen... 3018May 15, 2016 2:13 am Re: Show me your kitchen... 3020May 15, 2016 5:54 pm AussieMark Lovely Beazley. Looks awesome.
