Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - site start 27/1/16! 22Jan 22, 2016 2:15 pm So here is the ‘furniture floor plan’ I was working on a while ago. It isn’t complete or perfect and we may change our minds as we go but it gives some idea of what we are thinking and what will/should work. It is to scale and it has really helped to work out what size lounge etc (the maximum size). I had my eye on a particular modular lounge but when the scaled pic outline of it was put on this plan it was obvious it would be too wide (would only leave 60cm gap between wall and couch to walk through). The three ‘spare’ bedrooms are all the same size and as you can see one is completely empty, we will likely change our minds as to what room will serve what function, but one will definitely be a guest room and one a study. The back bedroom will likely be the hottest which is why I have it as a study rather than a bedroom - our study is more of a storage room than a room we actually sit in. I’ve also attached some pics of furniture we are liking – I quite like elements of the industrial look; the husband likes more a modern style. As we are going tiled floor rather than timber floors (a matter of some debate) we want to incorporate the warm look of timber in some of the furniture. The alfresco shows two settings - we already have one, an eight seater wicker setting; we are thinking of getting a matching 'bar' wicker setting. There should be plenty of room as it is a large area. And here is what we are thinking furniture wise: Lounge, but will be in a darker grey. Entertainment unit, kind of like this, from Ikea: Rug - a bit fluffy in a medium brown/grey Coffee table: Dining setting (with the chair style on the right of the table): Island bench stools (or similar) and pendant lights for above the island Our mega clock - which will go on the wall above the extra benchtop in the kitchen, so you will be able to see it from everywhere in the kitchen/meals/lounge room (please ignore the cat who was taking her chance to be a model) More to come!!! So not a priority though!! http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv26/nataisha19/office%20set_zpsoofqauof.jpg The 'bar' setting for the alfresco: So that's not everything but you get the gist My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - furniture plan 24Jan 23, 2016 12:28 pm Love the look of all the furniture! Your tv unit is something very similar to what we will need for our place so will definately try ikea looks great allround!! Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - furniture plan 25Jan 23, 2016 9:20 pm Definitely check out ikea! It is their Besta range and you can mix and match to suit your space. We want ours to be around 3metres long and you just can't buy the units that long. We had a rough quote from a cabinetmaker for a custom make and it was quite a lot. Only issue is putting it all together....its all flat pack! My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - D-Day! 26Jan 27, 2016 10:34 am It's our start day! Will be very happy to see some movement on site. I am going to try to not go tonight to have a look as I don't think a huge amount will get done in one day... rome wasn't built in a day and all that.... don't think I will be able to stop myself going past tomorrow night though ! My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - D-Day! 27Jan 27, 2016 11:59 am Yay how exciting!! Cant wait for ours to start!! The fun begins now for you Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - Site works 28Jan 29, 2016 10:18 am Site works started yesterday! Got a shock (a good one) to see the temporary fence and the digger on our land when I swung past last night. It looks like they did a lot in one day - probably a good thing what with all the rain we are now getting! http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv26/nataisha19/land%20site%20cut_zpsuclieewr.jpg My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - We have a dunny! 29Feb 03, 2016 7:36 am Visited the site last night - trying to keep it to twice a week, I am so tempted to go more often - and found we have a dunny! Funny what you get excited over. We also have the posts for our retaining wall and electricity box installed, and pegs dotted around. I think the plumbing must be next? Also bumped into one of our new neighbours, who had come to check on his patch of dirt - they are directly to our left when looking at the front of the house. Had a good chat with him, they haven't settled on a builder yet and don't think they will start anything till next year. Good to meet him though, it is always a bit scary not knowing who the neighbours are going to be. http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv26/nataisha19/dunny%20020216_zpsswab4tvv.jpg My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - We have a dunny! 30Feb 13, 2016 11:03 pm Tash it's amazing to finally see movement!! Yay for a dunny. Remember the feeling well!! I'm so excited for you We finally moved in on Wednesday The feeling is wonderful I will still stay on here and follow your build!! Our plans are very similar Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - We have a dunny! 31Feb 14, 2016 7:07 am Thanks Simmi!! Yes it is so good to finally get it all going. Very jealous you are in to your new house!! Lol. Hoping for slab this week..... My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - We have a dunny! 32Feb 16, 2016 12:00 pm So the plumbing is in.... slab this week hopefully! http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv26/nataisha19/plumbing%201_zpsvi12e5eb.jpg My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - plumbing is in 33Feb 17, 2016 1:57 pm Congrats on the start Tash! Looking forward to following your build ? Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - plumbing is in 36Feb 18, 2016 7:26 am Gravel is down - assuming that this is what goes under the slab. Was told we'd have slab by Friday but with the weather in Melbourne this week I don't know if this will happen.... We are getting an independent inspector to check things at certain stage - pre-slab pour, frame, pre-plaster and before handover. Arranging these inspections seems like it is going to be hard work!! I think it will be worth it though for piece of mind. My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - plumbing is in 37Feb 19, 2016 7:08 pm Hey Tash, did the slab go down today? Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - plumbing is in 39Feb 19, 2016 9:24 pm Oh boo . Maybe some others earlier on the week got pushed back and so did yours. A few more days, hang in there! Re: Our Forever Home at Cloverlea - plumbing is in 40Feb 21, 2016 3:28 pm Visited early this morning to find that not only have they been working on our block, they were actually working on a Sunday morning. Was quite impressed. We have been told concrete pour on Tuesday so I guess they had to get it going!
