Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Modified Elwood (Celebration Homes) in Mason Green Estat 21Jan 14, 2016 8:59 pm Small update - Titles were originally due in November 2015 but were pushed out a few times. They were finally released on January 12, 2016 and land settlement is currently scheduled for February 2. The next step is to get ready for that and sign the title documents and final mortgage documents. The builder was able to get on site back in December and do their surveys and all was good. They also submitted to the estate developer and got their approval. Now that titles are out they are submitting the plans to the council so hopefully I will have all the approvals and permits required by the time the land settles. This way I can hopefully go into scheduling immediately and win back a bit of the time that was lost waiting for titles. I have been watching quite a few home renovation tv shows lately (I discovered 9 Life :/), particularly 'Flip or Flop' and this has got me pretty excited for the house again. Particularly the post-handover work that I will need to do. Hoping everything goes smooth with settlement and the build can get underway as soon possible. Exciting times ahead! We are also building with Celebrations but in Landsdale. Just about to sign our final contracts and prestart next month. Hope all goes well Re: Modified Elwood (Celebration Homes) in Mason Green Estat 24Jan 21, 2016 8:11 pm loulou1411 Hi Odeun I have been eagerly reading your posts. Celebrations have been good so far. I am in Stage 2 of my estate and I went down over the weekend to check out progress with Stage 1. There were 7 with slabs down, and 5 of them were Celebration Homes. This gives me hope that they will get in there nice and quick once my land settles. Make sure you make your own thread when things kick off so I can follow along Mason Green Estate, Piara Waters with Celebration Homes: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=79358 Re: Modified Elwood (Celebration Homes) in Mason Green Estat 25Jan 21, 2016 9:13 pm loulou1411 Hi Odeun I have been eagerly reading your posts. Landsdale is a north-east suburb about 15 mins further out of the city from Morley. Re: Modified Elwood (Celebration Homes) in Mason Green Estat 27Feb 02, 2016 8:40 pm Land settlement happened today! I also received my building permit yesterday. The builder has informed me that I will be entering scheduling on Friday. I can't wait to see stuff happening at the site! Hopefully scheduling is quick. It has been fun watching the stage one houses starting to go up Mason Green Estate, Piara Waters with Celebration Homes: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=79358 Re: Modified Elwood (Celebration Homes) in Mason Green Estat 28Feb 11, 2016 5:17 pm Hi oduen, We have a block in stage 3 so still waiting on that, feels like years ago when we signed up. They are saying construction should be finished in April so titles in April/May so fingers crossed for us. Great to see stage 2 titles have come through for you! If you have been through the estate recently you will see there's a few houses taking shape now and the furthest along is a Celebrations build, that's a good sign! Great to see a fellow Mason Green builder on here! The waiting was a real pain, especially since I was expecting them back in November. I hope your titles come through on time. I have been coming by every weekend and checking out the stage one builds. There are quite a few Celebrations builds and I definitely know the one you are talking about. I will be heading there tomorrow as I have been overseas for the last week. I received word on Friday that my siteworks were due to begin that day and my footings are scheduled for this Wednesday. The slab should then follow by the end of the week hopefully. I can't wait to head there tomorrow and see what has been done. Who will you be building with? Fingers crossed for titles on time so we can get started too. We have yet to sign with a builder, title delays and other issues caused us to put it all on hold last year, long story short we ramped back up about a month ago and hope to lock a builder in by the end of this month (at which time I'll start a thread of my own ). Exciting to see you look like you'll be slabbed by the weekend! Anyone know what this is? Maybe air that was in the concrete? Mason Green Estate, Piara Waters with Celebration Homes: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=79358 Re: Celebration Homes Build in Piara Waters WA [Slab] 37Feb 25, 2016 6:38 pm loulou1411 Did you find out what caused the bubbles in your slab? I sent the pictures to my CLO and she showed the construction team. They said they occur every now and then and it happens when the concrete is being mixed. I assume there is too much air in the cement, or water maybe. They said it won't affect structural integrity and isn't a problem. I hope they still do something about it, like grind them down. I don't want to end up with a bumpy floor. That is a pain hope it gets fixed. Never a dull moment when you are building ;-p Re: Celebration Homes Build in Piara Waters WA [Slab] 39Feb 27, 2016 2:02 am After much searching and finding almost nothing mentioning bubbles, lumps or bumps, I finally stumbled across concrete blisters (makes sense) which seems to describe what I have. Quote: Blisters, as the name suggests, are formed when bubbles of entrapped air get stuck underneath an already sealed surface and produce bumps of varying sizes. These defects are typically identified when the concrete slab is being laid and simply requires some alteration to the actual concrete mix in order to prevent more blisters from appearing. Blisters are more of an annoyance than they are a structural problem and shouldn’t cause any long-term issues for homeowners. In fact, you’ll probably never know if your concrete slab even has blisters. I have pointed it out to the builder so I hope if something can be done it will be. I will head to the block again tomorrow and see how it is looking. Hopefully no new blisters. Mason Green Estate, Piara Waters with Celebration Homes: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=79358 Re: Celebration Homes Build in Piara Waters WA [Slab] 40Feb 28, 2016 7:13 pm I went to the block yesterday but didn't get to walk the slab as there were some people there with a digger doing something in the front yard. They seemed to have a lot of trouble with getting it back onto their truck and sounded quite irate so I gave them some space Went back today and couldn't spot the blisters as clearly as before. I am not sure if this is just due to the time of day and position of the sun making them harder to spot, or if the builder did something. I did find some small bumps but not the larger ones I had noticed before. There was some scar-like markings in the area. It makes me wonder if maybe they burst and deflated. I ran my hand and foot over the area and the bumpiness was minimal, so hopefully all will be okay. As an update, there is a now a pole with a cable wrapped around it where the meterbox will go and a drain-like pipe with a cap in the front yard. I had been told that drains, underground run in and temporary power pole were going to be installed during the week, so I guess that was those. This coming week there should be site clean, slab check, and delivery of bricks, sand and frames. I had been hoping the bricking would start this week, but it feels unlikely. I will check in on the block again on Wednesday.
