Good job! Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: KEYYYSSS!! 14/10/15 ~ First Home, Alkimos WA 355Jan 12, 2016 11:12 pm Sorry all, just got back from our short holiday last night! We were away one week and little man had a tough time adjusting. Now i need a holiday from the holiday So nothing to report im afraid! Bank accounts are dryer than a texan desert and credit card is maxed out so will be a few weeks before any further progress. Still heaps to do in the back yard: planter boxes, screening, paving, plants and bbq area. I'm still umming and arring about what to do at the end of the deck (where side fence is) We were thinking of doing a decking seat but i think it might be best to leave until bbq area is done and then re-annalyze. Im really wanting plantation shutters for our master windows so i want to look into that but i know we'll need to save for a while for that alone. Boo.. I was going to put up a rod for now with some cheap curtains because the light at 5am is doing my head in, but the rod i bought a while back isn't long enough by about 20cm. Patience isn't my strong point. lol _______________________ KEYYYSSS!! ~ 14/10/15 viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: KEYYYSSS!! 14/10/15 ~ First Home, Alkimos WA 356Jan 13, 2016 6:27 pm Oh I forgot you went on a holiday! Lucky you. I totally get the holiday from a holiday though and I don't even have kids haha. We had a staycation in November and the dogs were a handful lol. Ahhj I love my plantation shutters! You should definitely get them! If you or hubby are handy with a drill etc ive heard you can get them from blinds online for a little bit cheaper, the only thing is you need to install them yourself. The backyard will probably be a work in progress like ours I'm trying to make hubby do our lawn this swing and he's taking his sweet a$$ time haha. I think it's partly the cost and partly not knowing whah he's doing lets see how this turns out haha. I'm sure they won't have as much "personality" as myne... Wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy, he's such a handful. I think it's a tough age, not a baby anymore but not quite old enough to understand yet he wants to rule the world. lol Ahhh plantation shutters Im actually looking into them now. Have found heaps of manufacturers on ebay so awaiting quotes, and yes EVERYTHING is DIY at our place. lol Can you send me a pic of one of your windows face on for a proper look? Need to decide if i want that fixed panel in the middle or what, what do you think? There seems to be lots of different styles and options. Are yours inside mounted or outside? Backyard is def a work in progress. We're getting used to having a maxed out credit card and the moment we have a couple of hundred in credit it will get used again. lol Haha the grass.. It's really not hard but time consuming. We did ours from scratch as opposed to buying pre-mixed bags of soil to mix in with the existing sand which i read isn't the best, but we had a really small area. I did the research and hubby did the work lol, well, most of it. lol If you need to know what you need for soil prep let me know (pm me), we've been watering twice daily, with seasol (& molasses when i can be bothered) every couple of days, plus powerfeed once a week. It's been about 3-4 weeks now so im feeding it with the seasol less often and its now just about time for it's first mow, which brings me to say we need a mower. lol Might by one of those rotary metal ones being the cheap option and because like i said it's a small space. _______________________ KEYYYSSS!! ~ 14/10/15 viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 Re: KEYYYSSS!! 14/10/15 ~ First Home, Alkimos WA 358Jan 13, 2016 6:58 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ _______________________ KEYYYSSS!! ~ 14/10/15 viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 KEYYYSSS!! 14/10/15 ~ First Home, Alkimos WA 359Jan 13, 2016 7:00 pm This is what we're dealing with in regards to plantations (excuse the ugly yellow sealer on walls ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ _______________________ KEYYYSSS!! ~ 14/10/15 viewtopic.php?t=72518 Our Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72518 KEYYYSSS!! 14/10/15 ~ First Home, Alkimos WA 360Jan 14, 2016 8:10 pm The deck looks amazing DC and your lawn looks really good too, you have done a lot! Our backyard is still all sand. Hahaha, I know what you mean about holidays, lol, I also went on holiday in December and came back wanting a holiday to recover from the holiday . Our building journey viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77582 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
