Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 82Nov 20, 2015 8:59 pm To be honest I lost interest in my place its taking sooooo long. Build is way past contact period and still no confirmation it will be finished this year. Of all the terraces mine is the closest to completion. If feel sorry for the rest of the people who still look way off. Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 83Jan 04, 2016 2:18 pm Happy NewYear everyone, Hope everyones building going well and smooth. I just received a letter from my builder a few days before christmas with a build price increase by around 3% as they were not able to start the build within the time they have agreed. Delay is by Council according to them. Has anyone received similar hikes in the price ? Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 84Feb 02, 2016 6:07 am Happy new year to anyone still reading this. Bit of a late starter but I have read this forum from time to time over the past year or so. My lovely wife May and I bought a waterfront terrace in release 18 with Thatcher homes back around December 2014. Slab went down in December 15 and now waiting for works to resume after the Christmas break. The current expected completion date is in late June 2016. Crossing my fingers it isn't delayed much more. Have noticed the area has gotten nicer over the past couple years - I liked the addition of the piece in the canal. I am hoping those apartments go up quickly as well though. Was hoping as the last release, the amount of building going on in the area would be minimal by the time I moved in. Hope you all settled in nicely and are enjoying your new houses or your houses will complete soon!! Re: Anyone building at Thornton , Penrith 85Apr 29, 2016 4:46 pm Hello all, my last post was in 2015 so I thought I'd give an update. I'm on Hudson Street, release 16 (Oct 2014). Definitely feels like the whole process is dragging. We were originally told completion would be February. Then we were told Easter time, then it was end of April. And now we have end of May. I personally think it will be more like June/July. Just got the progress for lock-up, and drive way is going in this week. Recently they painted one of the external walls RED and I wanted to cry. It looks terrible! There are only 4 houses in the street that got the red wall as per design. The builder is now having to look into reapplying to council to have it changed. Let's hope so. Otherwise it looks like I'll be buying paint on moving day! Has anyone got any updated information regarding shops and restaurants in the estate? Last news I read online was end of 2016 completion. But somehow I can't see that happening. Hi, We are looking for a builder that can build a small home (smaller length) on a sloping site.
