Can someone tell me roughly how far you must leave from a boundary fence? And generally how much paving/tiling/whatever you need to have around the edges of the pool. Are there any restrictions? When they demolished our house, they levelled it and now what was once our grass is now is now about a metre above our alfresco of the new house- if that makes sense. Will we have to do retaining walls around the boundary fence before installing the pool? Or how does it work?? Thanks everyone! Hi Kim - are you planning to install ? If not - get a few to come and quote. We found Compass good - they have a web site. BUT - they will also have ideas - ask them what they would do. There are rules re fences - and splash rules on boundaries. We found having a flat area worked well - rather than stepped down. Also - concrete can fit almost any area - where-as ceramic / FB is generally a set shape. Re: Thinking of a pool.... 5Jan 02, 2016 8:05 am Thanks so much for that... I will do just that and get some quotes in the next few weeks! Thinking of a pool.... 6Jan 02, 2016 9:52 am Keep in mind in NSW if your boundary fence is part of the pool fence it needs to be 1.8m high and have the same characteristics of a regular pool fence. This is a good guide for people in NSW: http://www.sutherlandshire.nsw.gov.au/f ... ooklet.pdf Also the minimum area you would do around a pool is the size of the coping and there's a lot of different sizes to choose from. Most of it is min 400mm. Sent from an iPhone please excuse the ridiculous spell correcting software. My forum thread is at viewtopic.php?t=74944 Re: Thinking of a pool.... 7Jan 03, 2016 12:05 am Also, the 1.8m is measured from the inside of the fence, not the outside. Re: Thinking of a pool.... 8Jan 19, 2016 10:34 pm The whole boundary thing is very confusing. We had two pool guys tell us we needed to be 1 m from the boundary. Another who said we could do a non compliant pool and put it closer. I ended up ringing our local council and asked, she said you could have it right up again the fence, it is not the distance but how the pool is put in. I have a meeting with our pool company tomorrow to talk about being closer to the fence. I suggest ringing you local concil and talking to a few pool companies. Good luck. We are in the same position. Our three kids love swimming, I really would love to have a pool, I am hoping we can work in into a small yard. Good luck. I will give the council a call later in the week to find out exactly what the go it in our area. Would love it to be as close to the fence as possible so we have more of a backyard! Re: Thinking of a pool.... 10Feb 08, 2016 6:29 am Think about maintenance and safety too. There's plenty of times when you may want to talk around the pool, to brush the sides for example, or have an area for someone to get in and out, whether as part of normal play or an emergency. We have 600mm and a bench seat alongside ours, between the pool and fence. in victoria you really need to have what you propose shown on plans and signed off by a building surveyor. isn't a garage level with the rest of the house a given? pretty sure they 'came around' long time ago. if you have a flat block, the garage is usually level with the rest… 1 17528 Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
