Can anyone tell me if there's an industry standard for what constitutes 'off white mortar'? KDR Chadwick 41 Eastern Suburbs KDR Chadwick 41+ Re: Porter Davis homes 12136Jan 07, 2016 2:18 pm Hello. We are about to build a Forsyth 35 in Melbourne. It's a knockdown rebuild. I've spent ages reading this thread and all the build blogs and it's been very helpful. I have a question about tiles. Has anyone used Cat 1 tiles? if so, how are they holding up? We were thinking of using the Simplicity in sand, which is ceramic. I prefer a Cat 3 tile called Colorado, which is porcelain and an extra $20/ m2. At National Tiles these 2 tiles are the same cost! Re: Porter Davis homes 12137Jan 07, 2016 3:07 pm ednaboo Hello. Are you sure the Colorado are porcelain, as if I recall correctly we considered them and I was pretty sure they were ceramic (nice tiles by the way ). We have gone with a porcelain tile (Majestic 2 Limestone) and, although they are very similar in square metre price at National Tiles, we too were astonished at how many fold more expensive PD were. They say it's much harder to lay the larger (600mm x 600mm) porcelain than it is the standard ceramic. I'm hoping that once we see the final product it'll be worth it! Good luck with your KDR. I believe that one is porcelain. I had a look at it today and it was a nice tile. Porter Davis homes 12140Jan 12, 2016 1:31 pm We got some awesome news today. Having previously been told our site start had been pushed back to Feb, we heard from our BC today that we'd actually been transferred to site last Friday!!! (would have been nice for someone to tell us? Lol). Means we should have site scrape by the last week of Jan latest. After all these months of waiting for title and a complete stuff up with settlement, it's so nice to finally have some good luck this whole process teaches a ton about patience, that's for sure, and I'm sure we have many more lessons to come on that one. We have movers booked for next week, going to the inlaws while our current place is on the market. Back home for the few months between the auction & settlement then potentially back to the inlaws again assuming there's a gap between settlement and handover. It's going to be a crazy six months or so but we're very lucky they're happy to have us invade!
