Given that you are in Ellenbrook I will not recommend getting one. A friend have it installed and as daz mentioned they don't cut it. Ensure you have a well insulated home, and you'll probably find that a split system a/c won't cost you an arm and a leg to run. An evaporative unit works great in places like Melbourne and Adelaide (and other places with low humidity in summer), but the further north you go on the East Coast, the less efficient they become. Edit: just looked after I replied, you are on the West Coast. But still look at average humidity levels during the summer for your location... the higher the average humidity levels, the less efficient evap is.
