Is this a good thing - some say you need to leave the slab for longer. Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 208Dec 23, 2015 7:28 am Pouring footings and slabs for residential jobs our engineer wanted to see copies of those dockets as well just to make sure of the strength. Even for our small jobs he had the standard blurb I mentioned above regarding additives which would just be standard general comments in his specs for any job large or small. Stewie Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 209Feb 27, 2016 6:45 am Slightly off the point - but so many "sensible otherwise" people repost those adverts about wonderful prizes if you repost the advert - eg fly around the world 50 times - first class - if you repost etc. Shares in some major company - or money if you repost. WHY do they do it - are we that greedy/needy/gullible ? Do we live on hope to that degree ? However - if you reply to this post you may win something ... Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 210May 06, 2016 10:57 am I've always been told to make a lot of noise when working out the back of our place - in a bushy type area. This - supposedly - scares away the snakes. Now - I haven't seen a snake for a while - since houses were built either side of us - but the back is still open - to the golf course. We have a bushy area and a water lagoon/trap. So can snakes hear - or do they just feel vibration ? They do have an inner ear - but this doesn't really hear. So - when in the bush - if you thump the ground you may have more affect on a snake than just making noise. Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 211Jan 14, 2017 11:18 am My favourite thread ... Do dogs with big paws grow larger because they have big paws ? My new Goldie has big paws and everyone makes this comment. Yet I think he'll just be normal size. Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 212Jan 15, 2017 8:16 am Many myths around why a 2x4 is not 2x4 ... Has anyone actually bought some lumber and thought it was ? . Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 214Jan 30, 2017 9:18 pm I've always been curious about the pool question !! another one that has always bugged me is that you can light a fart on fire lol, ive never seen it happen and seen people attempt any times with no success Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 215Jan 31, 2017 7:33 am I must admit I've never seen in this in the flesh - so to speak. Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 218Feb 03, 2017 5:22 pm I know we've all heard the one about the fibre glass pool "popping" out of the ground - a friend of a friend ... But - I heard an adaptation of it today - an underground water tank that "popped" out of the ground because it had been very dry and it was almost empty. I'm currently chasing it up - ie who the friend of a friend was - where they live etc etc. Probably as crazy as the pool myth ! Re: URBAN MYTHS .... ? 220Feb 05, 2017 10:39 am Agree - water "could" do it - if it was empty. And the water surrounded it. Clearly it would float if closed and in sufficient water. As a boat floats. Presumably if it was surrounded by water there would be water in it too ? |
