Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 202Dec 09, 2015 10:48 pm Our guys installed the A/C today and I must say its perfect. Thanks Ford and Doonan Osborne Park. Grills, motor, everything aligned and in the correct spot. They even swept up after themselves according to the maintenance guy onsite. Pool motor also went in and the green pool is finally going to turn blue again soon. Yippee. On the other side, roof repairs happening in the bedroom and 14 LED light holes drilled in the wrong spots are undergoing patch-ups. I think there are still more to go. I can understand a few holes in the wrong spot but 14+. Won't be getting those electricians to do any of our after work! Still waiting on details as per keys, finish dates etc, no word as yet and 2 weeks post PCI was today. Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 203Dec 09, 2015 11:45 pm I hear you about the holes for lights Dongster. Mine were just the normal lights, all under the slab, but at least I just have 10. According to the dates we were given all that's left to do the next 2 days is painting. Unfortunately that's not the case. Only 3 things marked off a list of 77! Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 204Dec 10, 2015 12:01 am Our lights appear straight but we have small chips near most lights and because our ceiling wasn't back rolled our own painter said when things are patched it might be obvious. At night with lights on now our ceilings are pretty poor, can see roof beams so badly and the screws! We try not to look up as each time we see something new :/ Glad your aircon went in well tho, that's something ticked off the list too! Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview - Post Keys 205Jan 11, 2016 2:11 pm So 3 weeks post keys and still so much to be done. Can't use our shower downstairs as there is a leak under the slab and sand is washing out from underneath. Not happy about this and who knows what structural and long term issues we will have. This is not what a NEW home is meant to be like. Our plumbers have let us down throughout with toilet plumbing ending up in the shower, both shower drains in the wrong locations and slabs having to be cut both upstairs and down (even when I told them the pipes were incorrect prior to slab pour), kitchen flooded and then leaking a week later, new pipes full of concrete, cracked tiles on fit-out, also rang for an emergency plumber over Christmas and they never turned up. Far from impressed. IXL fans/heat lamps still nowhere to be seen. Latest is they were damaged and they need to order more and we don't know how long this will be. Well go to Bunnings, Masters or a dozen other places and just buy them and install them. What a joke. Lights don't work, tiles fallen off, no man hole cover still so nice to let the hot air inside over summer. Half our PCI2 list is still incomplete and we are waiting, waiting... Emailed Ben this morning as we have had enough, their focus appears to be on the new builds as we have paid up. All I hear are crickets chirping. Would have loved to have held out final payment but after soooo long we had to move in as we had nowhere to live. I am sure others can relate to this, didn't want to move in but had no choice. I am told as it is now quieter they have more say in what trades they use, that's great for the new builds but it does little to console me with the rubbish trades we have had onsite. The evidence is all around me and not what I expected for nearly half a million. Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 206Jan 11, 2016 2:32 pm Hi Dongster, This is really disappointing to read. I would be devastated too. I hope Ben contacts you and rectify's everything asap! Makes me nervous for our build quality.... That is bad! I hope Ben is in contact with you soon as he was quick to sort our after handover issues so I don't see why he can't do the same for you. That's really shocking about your shower :/ Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 208Jan 11, 2016 3:38 pm Even if it is "sorted" I am nervous as what are the long term issues. It's just stuff that should not happen if decent trades were used and they took some care. Some mistakes and issues I can accept but we have had more than our share of "mistakes" and "mishaps". At what point is it just pure neglect, no care or unsupervised workmanship. I could write a book on the substandard finishes we have and may do that soon. Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 209Jan 12, 2016 1:48 am Oh no - that's terrible. I hope they fix it properly very soon. Is there anyone else you can appeal to for help????? The builders registration board is there to deal with disputes between a builder and a client when an agreement cannot be reached between the two parties. Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 211Jan 12, 2016 1:45 pm Plumber is out at our house now. We finally know why the shower leaks from under the slab. Wait for it.... It has not been connected to the pipes. bwahahahahaha WTF!!!!!! What sort of outfit is this. Speechless and I thought I had seen it all from this company. Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 212Jan 12, 2016 4:11 pm Ha ha ha --- you should read my story!!!! I thought I'd seen / heard it all too....... You just dont expect such rubbish but ive seen my fair share of poor trades on this build. Re: Our BTH Build in Doubleview 217Jan 13, 2016 6:38 pm Hmm! I'm seriously considering investing in one now. But you are right, the workmanship you have encountered isn't acceptable. I really hope you don't experience any more dramas! Please , please get an Inspector! This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 19198 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
