Matt could answer that better i guess (I'm sure there are some acoustic reasons not to have them). But if it's more a general chill out room, rather than dedicated theatre room, don't see why the tiles couldn't stay!! Spot On Amber!! Tiles = Sound reflection.... The room will tend towards a tinny sound. However this can be overcome (to a degree) with extra furnishings like couch placement and heavy drapes etc... Oh and a really big heavy rug...
