Hope they come to the party real soon for you Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Landscaping 1003Nov 12, 2015 9:05 pm Thanks Dream_Catchers and MalSannie, it seems like the issue has been resolved and we are back to progress and communication! We are happy that our concerns were taken into account and addressed. We have had some great progress the last few days, but I have not updated as I decided to take a break lol... So far we have had: 1) Bobcat cleared the rubbish outside (11 Nov) 2) Reticulation controller installed (11 Nov) 3) Side entry paved (12 Nov) 4) Floating steps foundation done (12 Nov) So here are some photos... Grrrrrr Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Floating Steps!! 1010Nov 13, 2015 2:04 pm Petad The floating steps look great I'm annoyed with the flooring I would like to have it laid by professional's but HE thinks we can do it ourselves the quote to have it laid was only $1300 for 90 sqm and we only paid $40sqm for them. Grrrrrr Thanks Petad...hey just thinking about our flooring...just keep in mind that that we were asked to pay the flooring installers separately to get one layer of screeding put on the floor to ensure that it was level. We ended up paying about $10 per sqm (average is $10 to $15 per sqm), but I can vouch that it was good to pay that cost because we saw the amount of prep that was done with the screeding and wouldn't have been able to do it ourselves. We had mentioned to the builder that we were using vinyl flooring so that they would get the slab as level as possible but still in some areas extra screeding was required and in a couple of spots they needed to grind the surface to ensure it was level. So total cost of flooring for us = Cost of vinyl planks + Installation labour + Screeding. Natalie92 Hootie do you mind me asking how much it cost all up to do the floating steps? Hi Natalie, I will have to check the quote but I think they lumped the sum up with some of the material for the firepit so might be hard to get an exact cost, but probably I can pm you an estimate. It was quite hard for us to get a quote from some tradies initially because everyone said floating steps was too difficult to do, or they didn't know how to do it and we didn't want to take a gamble..... That's why in the end we went with Tim Davies Landscaping because we were sure that we would get quality workmanship/service, plus get the floating steps that we wanted! Our steps are similar to the ones they had done in this City Beach project: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Floating Steps!! 1012Nov 13, 2015 8:11 pm Natalie92 That would be great just a rough price thank you hootie I think it looks absolutely fantastic! Thanks Natalie, I will get back to you soon. Here is the finished product. Now the surface just needs to get sealed next week. I reckon the guys did a great job today and with the bottom of the steps sealed in a dark colour, the floating effect is definitely there: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our Build Thread: The "Extended" Marina by Visionone Homes Our Inspirations: Frank Lloyd Wright | Houzz Re: Building in Aveley - Post-handover - Floating Steps!! 1013Nov 13, 2015 8:15 pm Your house façade is very beautiful and those steps....swoon. I've been looking forward to seeing the pics of this and they don't disappoint - it'll look fantastic once your plants etc are in too Thanks everyone, we are so happy it turned out just the way we wanted I kept looking at the steps last night with the lights on in the front of the house and I reckon I will be DIY installing some led lights below the overhang so that the steps can glow at night when the lights are on. My aim is to achieve as close to something like this look as possible: I forgot to update that the firepit construction has also been completed. The gravel for the pit should be in next week and also hopefully the bamboo at the fence line: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We've been sitting at the firepit the last couple of nights having conversations and I think it's time to look for some outdoor cushions for our tired old bums...the limestone is not so kind to ageing buttocks if we are going to sit there for some time lol....
