Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: D@n can u please help, you're so good at this LOL 10Jan 08, 2009 6:47 am Judie I'm going to be the lone dissenter here - I don't like it. I think it looks disjointed and unbalanced, almost like you ran out of one of the laminexes. Maybe if you made all the lower cupboards the darker colour, and the overheads white? Or go for a medium colour for the lower cupboards? Sorry. Judie I agree, there is too much going on. Re: D@n can u please help, you're so good at this LOL 11Jan 08, 2009 7:54 am Hey Toni, I have been reading a few of your posts and checking out your kitchen with great interest. You are renovating an older home, right? Me too! I found this site about 2 months ago and am addicted. I keep asking what are probably fairly dumb questions but amazingly other people patiently answer me! My new kitchen is due to be installed late next week and I am way past making any decisions. Hopefully my choices will prove to be ok. (If I'd found this site earlier, I'd be a lot more confident). The kitchen space is a reasonable size and is very well lighted (huge skylight). I am having black galaxy granite benchtops, antique white square profile doors, stainless applicances and when all that is finished I will be doing the floors (will be lots of homeone questions for that!). Perhaps I should take some before and after photos? Not sure how to do it but will investigate. Good luck with your renovations.

I'm in the planning/design stage of our house and the kitchen is a bit of a hard decision for me. I figured seeing a 3D model in a bit more detail might help. Re: D@n can u please help, you're so good at this LOL 13Jan 08, 2009 12:19 pm The wenge would look better on the base units and a lighter colour like a laminex parchment or formica gentle beige for the rest of the units. I think that looks better too. You could even switch the dark and light around in that picture if you prefer the darker colours on top. IMHO it was all dark on one side and light on the other. It looked a bit unbalanced, or like you added onto the original cupboards and couldn't match the colour. If you want the 2 colours it's more even to have the tops units one colour and the bottom another. Re: D@n can u please help, you're so good at this LOL 15Jan 09, 2009 6:26 pm thanks for the feedback everyone. We had considered doing the wenge for the pantry and over fridge cupboards and leaving it there instead of taking it right into the corner, this suggestion was made by laminex's interior designer, however she didn't get a visual of our layout, just me trying to explain it to her. Do you think this would be a better way, or do you still think the second option from smartpack is better ( thanks by the way smartpack...i love your suggestion also and now am confused LOL)
Any more advice would be appreciated...i did have my kitchen guy here yesterday and he thought the pantry and fridge cupboards only in the wenge would be ok, and suggested steering clear of all dark overheads as we have a small kitchen, however at the time i hadn't seen the kitchen design on here with all lower cupboards done in the wenge. Now i don't know what to do LOL Hey angie, yes it is an old kitchen, prolly well over 20 years and more. Would love to see your pics Re: D@n can u please help, you're so good at this LOL 16Jan 09, 2009 8:45 pm I like what smartpack has done better with the white on top and the timber at the bottom.
Don't ask me why I just do. Re: D@n can u please help, you're so good at this LOL 18Jan 10, 2009 10:44 am thanks, yes i am leaning towards the diff version smartpack has done, but still sticking with the polar white cupboards instead of parchment or the gentle beige, simply because all our skirtings and cornices and ceiling will be painted a stark white soon, and i think it will flow through nicely.
