Damn about your helper piking out, sounds like he pulled through yesterday though. Sounds like your turning into a flat pack king, we have more IKEA stuff to put together but I'm ignoring it for the moment How much do your kids love the piano??? We need some pics, I want to see your wall colour again I really like it. The retaining wall looks fab, you have to slide the planks down the brackets? No wonder you need a hand they would be so heavy!! The wall colour really suits your bricks 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 183Nov 29, 2015 7:34 pm Haven't updated in a while. I've been living my own version of Groundhog Day (working weekdays, building Kellyville's version of the Great Wall after work/weekends). It's starting to take shape. Pool area just needs tiles, boundary fence, pool fence and the interior finished. Fingers crossed that happens before Xmas. It'll be tight but it's doable. I can see light at the end of the tunnel with the front wall now. Backfilling will start next week (a bobcat is going to get me started). Once the front wall is done and the pile of dirt out the back is gone I can start thinking about the back wall. At this rate I'll be done be Easter Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 185Nov 30, 2015 8:24 am hey Matt, just discovered your build, house looks gorgeous...& big..Lol. I'd love to see some follow up in the new year, what it's been like living there with so many kiddies. I've got 4 long term foster children & lots of little ones come & go, so house is always overflowing! We're building a Beechwood single level 5 bed/3bath home on the central coast. Problem is the size of the block is only 534m2 so not much of a backyard, as we anticipate to put in a 5m plunge pool after handover. I'm always keen to grab ideas from other big families to help make our home work for everyone. Looking forward to seeing more of your build & particularly how you find living in such a big 2 storey home with so many people Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 186Nov 30, 2015 9:35 am It's looking great Matt, all the effort your putting in to your Great Wall is worth it. Bet you can't wait to get it finished so you can enjoy your weekends again. I hope you can get your pool area sorted by Xmas so you guys can enjoy it in this heat Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 187Nov 30, 2015 9:37 am lileegirl hey Matt, just discovered your build, house looks gorgeous...& big..Lol. Like Matt we have 5 kiddies too and there is never a dull moment. If you decide to start a build thread I'll defiantly follow along Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 188Nov 30, 2015 10:26 am Hey Matt1! Your house is coming along nicely! Love the side positioned pool! I have a question with your hot water system, is the instantaneous gas hot water system good enough for your family and extended family? What size did you get? If it isn't would you recommend getting 2 one to service upstairs and one down stairs? TIA. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 189Nov 30, 2015 11:13 am Building4my3tots Hey Matt1! Your house is coming along nicely! They couldn't promise me that one system would be enough for all the bathrooms we have so we had to get a 2nd (it's on the other side of the house). They are Rheem 24lt units. It cost an extra $2350 but I figured it's not something you can do easily afterward if one wasn't enough. I feel bad because I don't get to spend enough time with the kids but I'm just trying to get it finished as fast as I can. I started teaching my 5yr old how to ride a bike last week. Luckily it doesn't get dark till 8pm ish. I think I got a touch of heatstroke from Sunday's effort 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 191Nov 30, 2015 1:26 pm Matt1 Tribe7 It's looking great Matt, all the effort your putting in to your Great Wall is worth it. Luckily it doesn't get dark till 8pm ish. I think I got a touch of heatstroke from Sunday's effort It's those 2 days at the end of a working week that you bust your *** to get as much done outside as possible and then pass out on the couch the second you come inside . You should be proud of your efforts it's looking sensational. I feel the same way about our kids it's hard to include them in work outside with out them getting in the way. I spent Saturday Xmas shopping and I would of honestly preferred to slug it out in the hot sun than face the crowds at the shops Cool learning to ride a bike is a massive step, they seem to grow up so fast from there on, my almost 4 year old has learnt to ride mr t skate board and it's giving me heart palpations. I just had a look back at your landscaping plan and my god you have a lot of turf to lay, what are the trees/plants your going to run along beside the pool for screening? I can't see the legend Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 192Nov 30, 2015 2:21 pm Yep, that's my definition of a weekend too. Since daylight saving started I've been doing a couple of hours after work each night as well. Adds up to like a whole extra day each week! 525m2 of turf to be exact. 250m2 of that is the nature strip. I can't do the rest and leave that bit. Just tossing up between Couch and Buffalo. No idea what to plant along the pool yet. Whatever it is will have to be salt tolerant. A mate of mine runs a nursery so I'm going to bribe him with beer to come and give me some advice (and then some discounted plants ). I don't think I'll do a build thread, I'm a little nervous with privacy issues regarding these kiddos, and I don't think I'd have anything interesting to say anyways haha but I've just made a coffee & keen to read through the rest of Matt's thread & start reading yours...hope to grab some great ideas Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 194Nov 30, 2015 4:26 pm Your so lucky to have daylight savings, I wish we had it we could get so much more done, Would be cooler to work of a night time too. Holy cow that's a lot of turf, we laid 311m3 and that nearly killed me, the nature strip can wait for sure but might be cheaper if you get a bulk order?? We went through the whole couch versus buffalo and went couch as its softer under foot and easy to maintain. I did wonder if you had figured that out with the pool plants, your mate will be able to help for sure. Gotta love cheap plants, a heap of wholesale nursery that stock garden centers around the country are in the valley behind us (I managed a few bargains out of them ) got 40 free plants yesterday including two, two meter tall palms Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 195Jan 15, 2016 7:35 am Just caught up on your build. Nice place you've got. Love the wall colour! Re: 2 Kids + Triplets = Need a bigger house! - Driveway done 197Feb 05, 2016 9:28 am Hey Tribe the side and front is basically done. Just waiting on the DA for the rear to be approved so can do that bit. I've been sending a Jims Diggers guy broke drilling all the holes for it through several metres of rock (I did warn him there was rock). I'm hoping to have the rear wall and side fence done in the next month. Then I can get some turf laid (all 500m2 of the stuff ). Been busy planting whilst waiting on the DA. The place is slightly less barren now. Hoping to get some better pics on the weekend if the weather is kind.... Particularly of the finished pool! Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included. My hesitation… 0 24770 After some ideas on making our patio kid friendly . Currently we have exposed aggregate. The patio faces west and is always in sun even though it has a shade directly… 0 4092 I’m not a structural engineer but I’m free. you still need an engineer for the plans. I only have part of your plans, but you seem to have a 850mm drop from the side… 3 10008 |
